I think JJ clearly has more natural talent than Barber... unfortunately, he's not very durable and Parcells does not tolerate wimps on his team. I think Jones will get the majority of carries until he (inevitably) suffers an injury. At that point I believe Barber will seize the job and never look back.
Agreed. I also thought he showed some shiftiness and seemed to make something out of nothing on several of his carries.Barber looks good cathcing the rock and running through the middle....soemthing JJ lacks.
I think what you saw in use last night against New Orleans is just how it will shake out...Jones had every opportunity on 1st and 2nd down. Barber came in and caught the ball and looked damn good doing it.65% 35% breakdown Julius>BarberBarber > JJBarber seems to run with more purpose, is quick enough, and just has a toughness that it seems JJ lacksWouldnt be shocked if its the Barber show by week 5
I dont disagree, but I do think that if Jones isnt getting the job done to Bill's liking, he wont wait too long to give Barber the shot on every downI think what you saw in use last night against New Orleans is just how it will shake out...Jones had every opportunity on 1st and 2nd down. Last year they were altenrating series 2 for julius 1 for barber..... Also I think at the end it was Barber gettign like 40 percent... I think Julius is wearing thin on tuna...Nothing has changed here since last year. JJ is the starter and will get 20 touches a game. Barber is the 3rd down guy, will get a few series here and there, and will get 10 touches a game. Thompson will get an occasional series, about 5 touches per game. The only issue outstanding is who is the short yardage guy. Dallas has been toying with FB Polite as the short yardage back. Keep an eye open the last couple of preseason games for who's in on short yardage. Everything else is settled.
Banker, Big Tex? Has anyone else noticed this?Parcells quotes(and just them) from pressers seemed to favor Barber all spring, it has changed a bit this summer and it appears we're clearly back to Jones starting and Barber III the backup. Camp's not over but ....FWIW
double agree... MBIII is the value pick IMO because i think he'll be getting the rock inside the 20... he appears to run w/ more determination and perserverence then JJ... w/ a better nose for the endzone (that shiftiness you refered to)Agreed. I also thought he showed some shiftiness and seemed to make something out of nothing on several of his carries.Barber looks good cathcing the rock and running through the middle....soemthing JJ lacks.
I agree. After the top 4, its a crap shoot. I am seriously considering not taking RBs with my 1st 2 picks, like I usually do. I may grab a stud WR with my 2nd choice. They are going to run the ball probably over 500 times this season.Barber will get his touches as well.I like Jones a lot, but it is becoming quite clear to me the Tuna loves Barber as well and wants him on the field.I think you could push Jones down a bit because he will not be an every down back, and if this team is behind in some games where they have to throw, Barber will be in there getting that PT.Not a true RBBC but close to it.Jones can be a beast, but he has a very good back-up right on his heals.Jones is a clear 3rd rounder to me.Is it me or is this the worst season in some time to draft RB's who have no questions. Tough year to evaluate.Anyone else agree?
No doubt. I'm a Barber owner but a huge JJ fan. I'm basically stashing Barber away in case JJ gets hurt again but there was nothing today to indicate Barber will be anything more than a relief RB. Jones had a good game against a very good defense and as you noted he clearly dominated the carries.Bump to point out that -- although the Dallas running game is nothing to write home about -- it was not anywhere close to RBBC today.J. Jones 17-72-1 M. Barber 3-13-0
Very true. I was as big a Barber III supporter as any but sometime in August Parcells seemed to change his tune so I did. Few posts up you can see, player spotlight I was "all over" Barber.Bump to point out that -- although the Dallas running game is nothing to write home about -- it was not anywhere close to RBBC today.J. Jones 17-72-1 M. Barber 3-13-0
