Is LaDainian Tomlinson washed up? (1 Viewer)

Either you can credit LT for getting 41 yards on 3 carries and penalize him for not punching it in at the goal line or neither but you can't have it both ways and pick and choose where to credit LT and where to blame his OL for his ineptitude.
Sure you can. Those runs are in two totally different situations. There is neither room nor time at the goal line to create your own hole.
So you're saying when the OL can make a hole for LT he can get positive yards but he's no longer capable of "making his own hay" and making a guy miss? Sounds pretty average to me...
Try watching the game next time...rather than just cutting and pasting a box score.
How about try contributing to the thread?LT at this point looks like a solid, workman like back to me.

Give him a good hole and he'll find it and run through it but he's not making many guys miss, stiff arming guys or jumping over the pile anymore.

Edit to add: If you want to send me a check for the "NFL ticket" I'll be happy to watch every game and report to you what I see every week. Until then, I'll watch what I can live and watch highlight shows and search the net for the rest if that's OK with you.
My point is that had you been able to watch the game you would have seen that there was no room for any RB to run through at the goal line. LT is no longer an elite back, but a RB need something to work with no matter how good he is. He still looks good to me except without the explosiveness he used to have that made him the best in the league.

Perhaps I'm remembering LT too fondly but instead of just running into the pile when there wasn't a hole, I can picture him going over or around the pile back in the day.

their blocking is just garbage. Absolute garbage. It is ridiculous, considering this is the Chiefs run D we're taking about...Embarassing...

:goodposting: Rip LT all you want but not many RBs would have scored with that blocking - worst I can remember - especially in a blowout. Doesnt help though - painful to be an LT owner.

1st and goal from the 1LT 4 runsNO TD
I am pretty sure his first run was from the 7-8 yd line. He only had two chances from the 1 IIRC.
it does not matter if it is him, the O line or both, he is nothing more than a flex play. 60 yards in the 1st Q and ended up with 71 yards for the game. I will do all I can to trade him by my leagues trade deadline but I am sure I will not be able to get much

The time to sell was before the season started (or earlier) for dynasty. The writing has been on the wall for awhile now a la Shaun Alexander.

LT had six carries from inside the 2 yard line today (eight carries from inside the 5). No touchdowns.
This is the big concern from the game.On one hand, they gave it to him time after time after time. Should be a plus for his value going forward.

OTOH, he sucked (for various reasons, not all his fault). Perhaps they'll start throwing it each time they're down there.

agreed. Talking about he's not washed up its his line is fine and good when talking actual football, but as far as FF goes, their running game is inept! And the big screen plays seem to go to sproles. His value is at an all time low in his career right now. Good luck getting anything in redraft/dynasty whatever. Maybe if he doesn't run up a lot of carries this year, he can be of value to a different team next year, though odds are he'll retire with them. Between him and Jennings being my 1st and 3rd rounders, my season is all but done... :wall: :kicksrock: :wall:

You say the big screen plays go to Sproles... but... isn't it actually that Sproles actually makes something out of screen passes..where LT no longer can?? Maybe its more that. Its not just dumb luck for Sproles.

Well, I don't short change sproles on anything.(no pun intended) He is good. Point I'm making is the designed screens are specifically run for sproles. In his heydey, LT would be running a muck on such screens. They'd actually playaction and slip him out with teh entire defense collapsing the middle, and he'd be gone. They don't even have those designed for him. I think their running woes are part the blocking, but also a good deal of play calling. Norv is an idiot. Regardless, the end result of all this discussion is 1 simple thing. LT can't be plugged into a starting lineup unless you're terrible thin at RB. In TD heavy leagues he's all but droppable. Even in PPR he's not worth a flex spot. It is mind bottling...

If you want to know which Charger is washed up . . . it's Chris Chambers.
Yep. Couldn't get separation and when he was open, didn't make the catch. With guys like Floyd and Leegadu, I don't know why Chambers is still getting his number called.Tough to demote a vet like Chambers but Floyd should be the starter from now on, IMO.

I thought the game was encouraging, personally. I traded for him last night- but i am dead at RB and have completely too many WRs.

I expected a floor of 10 pts every week from LT (see my post after the Bronco game) and I am getting that right now so I am pleased (re draft LT owner). I wish he had one of those TDs but their blocking horrible. When does their starting C get back? LT did get in on one of the goal line carries only to see the Chargers have a penalty.

But he is definitely not washed up. In fact, I will definitely draft him next year once they get their OL back because he can probably be had in the 4th round or so next year in a redraft.

The Center might not come back, pretty bad injury.Besides that he was pretty much stinking before the injury anyway.C-RG-RT on this team right now is just horriblenot only that Jacob hester cannot block and shouldnt be the lead fullback on any running play. Tolbert needs to be in there to lead block.

Is it safe to drop him in fanball leagues? Im 5-2 and probably will need some WR help so I need to drop someone. I have Benson Addai Sproles and Mendenhall
