Nothing he does today makes any difference unless he runs for 200+That said... it was good to see him out of the wildcat down at the GL.1 carry from 6, 1 TD.LT had six carries from inside the 2 yard line today (eight carries from inside the 5). No touchdowns.

Have to agree with you. That pasting he gave the Giants today - that pick at 1.07 has really paid off for my team.BusterTBronco said:Yet another stellar performance by LT2 today. This guy's not washed up. No. Not at all.
Good comparison there. I remember when Eddie started laying eggs until he faded away. This ending his Eddie George like. Never thought it'd happen with LT
Running behind this OL, all Charger RBs are equally washed up, including Sproles.Sproles is a lot more explosive than LT in the passing game, so I agree that Sproles should get more playing time. But that's not going to help the running game any.I agree that he looks slow and old. But why isn't SD getting Sproles more carries? 12 carries for LT to 1 for Sproles. Putting insulting comments on Norv Turner aside, will Sproles become a guy worth starting? Thoughts? Is the organization being overly loyal to LT to the detriment of the team, and if so will that change?
It sounds like you might be in a bit of denial here Tremblay, by focusing almost exclusively on the OL in response to Tomlinson's downfall.Sure the OL is no great shakes but in addition to that, Tomlinson is now merely just another workman like back without extraordinary skills anymore. You can plug just about any NFL back into his carries and get comparable (or better) results.Running behind this OL, all Charger RBs are equally washed up, including Sproles.Sproles is a lot more explosive than LT in the passing game, so I agree that Sproles should get more playing time. I doubt it. If the Steelers want an aging RB that may have lost a step next season they'll just resign Willie Parker. All LT has left to play for is a ring. He burned bridges with New England, so he's not going there. Maybe a compliment/mentor to Mendenhall next year in Pittsburgh?
If only players could be like Jim Brown and walk away on top. Not to be confused with being like the Jim Brown who beats women. This ending his Eddie George like. Never thought it'd happen with LT
Well, look at what Sproles has done rushing behind this line? Nothing. I don't think Tremblay is saying LT is a stud...but that the Oline is definitely hurting him from even being a serviceable back...and that is backed up by the fact that Sproles has looked awful running the ball as well.It sounds like you might be in a bit of denial here Tremblay, by focusing almost exclusively on the OL in response to Tomlinson's downfall.Sure the OL is no great shakes but in addition to that, Tomlinson is now merely just another workman like back without extraordinary skills anymore. It's kinda like OJ. Maybe the police planted evidence and he killed a couple of people. It doesn't have to be one or the other.
Again, no doubt that the OL is hurting all RBs in SD's backfield and better OL play would make Tomlinson and all SD RBs look better and I could be wrong here, but it seems that by just pointing to the OL ("Running behind this OL, all Charger RBs are equally washed up...") is doing a run-around on the thread topic and avoiding the issue that many of us, especially SD fans, don't want to see or discuss. Tomlinson has not only lost a step, but has quickly become a pale comparison of the runner he was.Well, look at what Sproles has done rushing behind this line? Nothing. I was responding to the question of whether Sproles will become a fantasy player worth starting.LT isn't the same guy he used to be. He's a bit slower, and he's running with much less power and balance.Avery said:Again, no doubt that the OL is hurting all RBs in SD's backfield and better OL play would make Tomlinson and all SD RBs look better and I could be wrong here, but it seems that by just pointing to the OL ("Running behind this OL, all Charger RBs are equally washed up...") is doing a run-around on the thread topic and avoiding the issue that many of us, especially SD fans, don't want to see or discuss. I could see him end up in Baltimore with Cam Cameron next year.Watching this game yesterday (shots of LT celebrating the winning TD with Norv), and hearing LT's comments today (can't find them, but essentially "not saying this is the end, but you don't know how if you'll play here again" when talking about Giants stadium) I got the strong feeling LT knows he is done and will retire after the year. I thought last week he might be a Patriots veteran-reclamation candidate, but had forgotten about his history with BB. It really is sad to see it end like this for the best RB I've watched in my years as a fan (I narrowly missed the Barry Sanders era), but I'd drop him in a heartbeat in a redraft league.
I don't know, maybe it was that 18 for 56 at home vs. Raiders. It's clear LT is a shell of his former self no matter which way you want to spin. He's had ample opportunity against the tomato cans of the league to prove otherwise.I recorded the game and just watched it today. Honestly, through the end of the third quarter I thought he looked perfectly fine except for the goal line carry. And that carry there were so many Giants in the backfield I don't know if anyone could have done anything.Unless he really started sucking in the fourth quarter, imo he looked good running, cutting, catching the ball.![]()
The biggest thing is he crumbles on contact. He hasn't broken a tackle all year. He's not hard to tackle. The strength and explosion is completely gone. He's a 600-700 yard, 5-6 TD guy, RBBC RB. I don't really see what is going to change, he's gotten old, it happens. SA went from 16 tds, 14 tds, 2 tds, cut. Done, over, goodbye. RBs fall off the map pretty quickly.he's got to stop trying to jump cut, he just doesn't have the athleticism to pull it off any more. at this point he runs forward 3 steps, stops and someone tackles him before he gets going again. i don't know if he's capable of switching his style after so many years but he's got to pick a hole and hit it hard.

That and Hutchenson left.S.Alexander is the softest, weakest "elite" back to have ever played. He could make people miss, but folded like Marvin Harrison as soon as there was contact. The biggest thing is he crumbles on contact. He hasn't broken a tackle all year. He's not hard to tackle. I disagree. I've seen him make good cuts, and stiffarms.teamroc said:The biggest thing is he crumbles on contact. He hasn't broken a tackle all year. He's not hard to tackle. Not watching this game, huh?Overall his runs just dont even look good anymore. He used to make move after move and then blow defenders away. I believe he's starting to wash up.
96 yards and 2 TD's????I thought he retired after last weeks game.....Knobs said:20 yard touchdown run.
