If Dillon is gone I'd bet he'd crack the first round. What is the shark pools view on Maroney for next year?Is he a top ten Pick?

There is a very good chance he ends up as a top 10 rb this year...if so he probably will be top 5 easily next year if dillon isn't there...
where is dillon going, exactly?what's his contract status, etc? i'd like to see him shove off as well, as a maroney owner, but i don't know if it will be that easy. There is a very good chance he ends up as a top 10 rb this year...if so he probably will be top 5 easily next year if dillon isn't there...
Maybe its just the hair, but he reminds me of Ricky Williams. In a very good way. There is a very good chance he ends up as a top 10 rb this year...if so he probably will be top 5 easily next year if dillon isn't there...
Dillon will receive a base salary of $2.5 million for 2007, 2008, and 2009.where is dillon going, exactly?what's his contract status, etc? i'd like to see him shove off as well, as a maroney owner, but i don't know if it will be that easy. There is a very good chance he ends up as a top 10 rb this year...if so he probably will be top 5 easily next year if dillon isn't there...
Contract status is meaningless to the Patriots. Contracts are not guaranteed so they can cut or trade Dillon at anytime.Plus there is a strong possibility Dillon hangs up the spikes after this year.IMO, it will be a debate of LT, LJ and Maroney as who should go first overall of the big three.Dillon will receive a base salary of $2.5 million for 2007, 2008, and 2009.where is dillon going, exactly?what's his contract status, etc? i'd like to see him shove off as well, as a maroney owner, but i don't know if it will be that easy. There is a very good chance he ends up as a top 10 rb this year...if so he probably will be top 5 easily next year if dillon isn't there...

Uh, no.Many play in keeper leagues. I'm in one with a rookie keeper, at the cost of a 2nd round pick. In another where we can keep any one player from this years roster-forever if we choose to.In those leagues he will remain on my roster. The reason I even mention this is because I have been pummelled with offers for him. While nothing of substance yet, if his performance remains on the upward trend it has been (even remains solid) the offers will escalate. Hold tight I say and enjoy a jump start for next year as well.Uh, isn't it a bit early to be worrying about your keeper for next year?
Dude, playing in a keeper league makes you take a whole different perspective of every move you make. It is never too early to think about your keepers for the next couple years. Heck, we even draft different as young players are more highly coveted.Plus at this time of year when people are starting to reevaluate their teams after strong or weaks starts to the season, trades become a hot issue and player age and future opportunity weighs heavily on the decision to make or pass on a trade.I have someone who wants Berrian from me in my keeper and I have to look at who next year's QB will be for the WR he is offering me. I also have had opportunities to trade for some rookie RBs like DeAngelo Williams, but since I can only keep a limited number of RBs for next season I have to decide if he would make the cut. If he won't then it doesn't make sense for me to trade for him just to throw him back in the draft after the season.Keeper leagues aren't superior to any other league, but they do require a different approach and a big part of it is looking far ahead.Uh, isn't it a bit early to be worrying about your keeper for next year?
Funny you should mention R Brown - I think Maroney might fair similiarly for FF players. R Brown (06) = Maroney (07)Mcgahee (05) = R Brown (06)Team Smokin said:I am following the Maroney story unfold as well. If he keeps performing like the monster that he is, I'd say first round is not out of the realm. He could be first round first tier material. Who really knows? I'm thinking this year could be the year of the Maroney. How can you keep a guy like that out of the lineup? I understand the business side of football, especially the Pats organization. Yet c'mon Maroney is leaps and bounds better than Dillon. And yes, it's nice to have 2 backs reduce the wear and tear and complement each other. Maroney could very well end up like Larry Johnson did last year, explode for multi TD's and plus 100 yard games. The Patriots are becoming a rushing team, and Brady will manage the new look. I still think losing your two top WR's is an incredible challenge to overcome. Yet the division is not very strong. Who finishes better than Maroney's stats at RB this year, is perhaps another thread. I'm thoroughly impressed and am just about ready to get rid of R. Brown for this guyImagine that

Interesting. I agree, though this means that Maroney (07) = McGahee (05). As a Maroney owner let's hope that doesn't happen! Maroney for President!Funny you should mention R Brown - I think Maroney might fair similiarly for FF players. R Brown (06) = Maroney (07)Mcgahee (05) = R Brown (06)
Its never too early to think about keepers. Fantasy Football is a 12 month thing in my mind. In my league we can keep a player taken in RD 6-22 and I stole Maroney with the 3rd pick of round 6 and now he is mine for 3 years.CrossEyed said:Uh, isn't it a bit early to be worrying about your keeper for next year?
Last time I checked, Ronnie Brown was a top ten back in ppr leagues. So, I guess that's not such a bad thing. I would never compare Ronnie Brown to McGahee. Brown is able to make up for his O-Line's inability to run block by being a big part of Miami's passing game. Now it is up to BB to see what the rest of us see. Dillon should be the change of pace back.
I could have used Kevin Jones last year also.Interesting. I agree, though this means that Maroney (07) = McGahee (05). As a Maroney owner let's hope that doesn't happen!
