Fair. I always kind of viewed him as a bit of a left poster child. And again, why that makes this board so mad baffles me. I mean you do have people on the left right? Strange how you can ever seem to say that here without many on the board getting super mad.Don't want to speak for the OP, but I suspect that it's probably his general association with Tech and Silicon Valley. Twitter and Google in particular seem to be considered left wing by those on the right wing, and I suspect that general impression gets spread to most of the major tech companies. There's definitely a cult of personality associated with Elon, but I'm not sure I would consider it skewing particularly left wing.
To me, the latest Musk thing reminds me a lot of the Kanye stuff - an independent minded individual somewhat unexpectedly echoing points made by the right. They even both gave their kids bizarre names.
I think Musk is an acceptable style businessman to alot of Left leaning people. They're not going to click 100% with him.....but he's much better than the traditional styled businessman/mogul that's usually more associated with The Right.Fair. Exactly. I didn't make it up. His commitment to electric vehicles seems to fit well with the climate activists, which is certainly a group that leans much further left than not. Had no idea so many would get so wound up about someone being put on their side.I think Musk is an acceptable style businessman to alot of Left leaning people. Ironically, that was one of the better aspects of Trump back in the day. Before he courted the Far Right and stoked Obama and Liberal hatred amongst the rank and file to a frenzy.
Might want to expand your horizons a bit. Not every vegetarian is a hippie liberal anymore.Exactly. I didn't make it up. I don't understand this post. what does this have to do with vegetarians? Is Elon a vegetarian?Might want to expand your horizons a bit. Not every vegetarian is a hippie liberal anymore.
Musk was well liked by a small set of uber wealthy people who my wife and I refer to as “limp liberals.” Mainstream left people never cared about him. Far left (which we call “the loony left”) have never liked him.Fair. I always kind of viewed him as a bit of a left poster child. And again, why that makes this board so mad baffles me. Strip off the communism.
You have a wonderfully simplistic view of the world.Aren't all job producers and wealth builders dead to the left and vice versa?
Republican policy builds wealth, Democratic policy destroys it. It is what it is.
Clearly I'm generalizing, but I believe those to be accurate generalizations. You have a wonderfully simplistic view of the world.
You mean it is a complete false assertion unsupported by anything factual and just meant to get a reaction from people?Aren't all job producers and wealth builders dead to the left and vice versa?
Republican policy builds wealth, Democratic policy destroys it. It is what it is.
Oh I see. Just a little generalization.Clearly I'm generalizing, but I believe those to be accurate generalizations.
There is a reason why socialist nations lag far behind capitalist nations in wealth creation.
And Democrats = socialists, yes? Still simplistic. And wrong. But hey, you live in your bubble.Clearly I'm generalizing, but I believe those to be accurate generalizations.
There is a reason why socialist nations lag far behind capitalist nations in wealth creation.
They are more socialist than Republicans, we can all agree to that. And Democrats = socialists, yes? Still simplistic.
Go through the exercise of listing the most wealthy nations per capita...obvious trends will become apparent for you.You mean it is a complete false assertion unsupported by anything factual and just meant to get a reaction from people?
Oil nations?Go through the exercise of listing the most wealthy nations per capita...obvious trends will become apparent for you.
That really doesn’t address what I said whatsoever. Try again. Job producers being dead to the left. Bogus point to get a reaction. Try again.Go through the exercise of listing the most wealthy nations per capita...obvious trends will become apparent for you.
Scandinavian countries are pretty well represented on that list, and a lot closer to socialism than the US. Is that the trend you're referring to?Go through the exercise of listing the most wealthy nations per capita...obvious trends will become apparent for you.
Also, most of those countries have socialized medical systems. That's a really obvious trend.Go through the exercise of listing the most wealthy nations per capita...obvious trends will become apparent for you.
And Republicans are closer to Nazi's, so it's fair to call them Nazi's, by that logic. They are more socialist than Republicans, we can all agree to that.
18 of the other 24 countries on that list have a longer life expectancy than the US.
Yea, but they only pay a fraction of what we pay for healthcare, so we are still #1.18 of the other 24 countries on that list have a longer life expectancy than the US.
Wow. Lots of countries that Republicans would consider 'socialist', are doing quite well.
What are the countries that you consider socialist? Or are we just talking that they are more socialist than the US? Would you consider all the countries with social medical care to be socialist?Go through the exercise of listing the most wealthy nations per capita...obvious trends will become apparent for you.
According to Business Insider, the US is the most expensive for healthcare and we rank 27th for level of healthcare.Yea, but they only pay a fraction of what we pay for healthcare, so we are still #1.
Nah, she is just as big of a phony as he is, and has defended his union busting and donations to Republicans.Be interesting to see where he is at because his wife is very much a socialist and full of left wing views
she has also marched for women and for climate change and for indigenous injustice....Nah, she is just as big of a phony as he is, and has defended his union busting and donations to Republicans.
Why is it so important how Bill eats?I guess this can relate to this thread…Musk, Bezos and Branson…yes they are free to do what they wish with their money…but I have a ton more respect and admiration for how what Gates has dine than their quest for more fame.
That said…it seems Musk is more about exploration and things that may yield more for humanity long term than Bezos and Branson who, at least in the surface, just want to stroke their egos with these space plane things…
Bezos and Bezos' wife take the #1 and #2 spots in giving money to philanthropy.I guess this can relate to this thread…Musk, Bezos and Branson…yes they are free to do what they wish with their money…but I have a ton more respect and admiration for how what Gates has dine than their quest for more fame.

I'm not sure these guys are in the space race for the fame. I don't even think they are in it for the money. They are chasing dreams in a way only rich guys can chase them, but I'm pretty satisfied that humanity is going to benefit more than it will be harmed by both their successes and failures. Sure in the beginning it will be joyrides for the most wealthy but one day not to far off these joyride capabilities will likely find purposes with more universal utility.I guess this can relate to this thread…Musk, Bezos and Branson…yes they are free to do what they wish with their money…but I have a ton more respect and admiration for how what Gates has dine than their quest for more fame.

We can always hope yeah.I'm not sure these guys are in the space race for the fame. I don't even think they are in it for the money.
