Is Pierre Garcon French for Lost Cause? (1 Viewer)

11 targets but only 3 catches in Week 1

2 (!) targets and 1 catch in Week 2

He can't do much worse but does he do any better?

One would think no... but I don't think I can afford to wait around to find out. Garcon had 2 drops in week one, one in the endzone. I think Manning just lost some confidence in him. Even though one of those grabs was a great over the shoulder catch. There is also the sure handed Clark and Wayne (drop in week 2) to contend with. Garcon was the first target of the game for Manning week 2, so I thought things were looking up. Only to be let down by just one more target. I need him to show me something for a week or two before I start him again.

This was Mathew Berrys (espn's "talented mr roto" :snicker:) BIG call of the year. This was his diamond. That Garcon was the value pick in Indy. That you shouldnt be looking at the other options so much as him. And that he was golden in that 15-25 WR range. Not that I ever really cared what he stated, but at this point I would never listen to anything he had to say ever again.
Berry has made a lot worse calls in career. 6 out of the 18 expert rankings also had Garcon in the 15-25 range. At this point does it look like a bad call? Of course, but there's also a chance that it was only two bad games. My points is that there are many reasons not to take Berry's advice but because he was high on Garcon is definitely not one of them.

This whole thread is comical! I have the guy in a dynasty league and fully expect him to become a viable FF starter at some point soon

 I am in total agreement. He was looking really good in the playoffs last year. 21 catches for 251 yards and 2 td's. He caught the first td of the superbowl! I think he will come on, I just have other options then Garcon right now. He has to show me he can still produce.

I made the same mistake as Berry.

Garcon's talent level is probably fine.

The big mistake a lot of people made (including countless on this message board) was assuming that Reggie Wayne is washed up at 31.

Wayne battled some minor knee ailment late last season, just bad enough to make his production dip, and went against Revis twice (once in that weird regular-season game I'd like to forget and once in the AFC championship game). This caused a "Wayne is on the downside of his career" overreaction that probably caused Garcon's 2010 draft stock to rise a little too much.

If you've watch the Colts this preseason or regular season, you know now that Wayne is not washed up. He looks as great as ever, except for that one drop against the Giants.

I don't think anyone thought Wayne's knees would be a problem early in the year but I could easily see Wayne's production start to drop off big time come November. He averaged 49 yards over the last 6 games with 2 touchdowns last year after playing out of his mind the first two plus months. All I know is that it's WAY too early to start throwing the towel in on Garcon.

I think I'll keep Garcon on the bench until a) he shows me that he belongs in the lineup; b) Wayne and/or Clark get hurt; or c) both of the above.

The other thread (the one I linked to) has much more analysis - both pro and con. Just saying - you might want to read it and post here or just post there and keep it all together.
