Just wondering Jets fans.. how long Rex Ryan is gonna be coaching the NY football Jets... from history it seems like coaching stlyes and personalities like his are not long term fixes to a franchises coaching position.. or is Rex still leading the Jets Carnival ride for the long term..

Perhaps less than 4 years in one city the new head coaching norm in the NFL, even when taking a team to the playoffs??

winning = longevity

losing = firing

Such is life in the NFL. Most coaches can't survive two losing seasons in a row without being replaced, and Rex probably would be no exception.

As long as he wins, all the rhetoric is irrelevant. If he doesn't win things change. But for now all is well. His players like him and play hard for him, and they are winning. It doesn't matter what fans of other teams or the media think of him.

All of this is true. At this moment, regardless of what happens today, Ryan is the all-time franchise leader in playoff wins among coaches. Think about that for a moment, laugh about how pathetic the Jets had been for the majority of the past 40 years, and then ask yourself again if they are going to show him the door in two more years unless the wheels really come off the bus.

Win and you stay. Lose and you go. He's done more in less time than any other Jets HC (at least that I can remember), so he stays.

Ryan will always field a solid if not great defense. His tenure is tied to Sanchez long term. If Sanchez is a long term bust, the Jets won't continue to win, and then Ryan skates on thin ice. Still boils down to W's and L's.

If/when it goes bad for Ryan in NY, it is gonna go bad very quickly and very suddenly. And then all of a sudden, all of that cockiness and big talk won't be so entertaining. It never is when a team is losing.

Nice win for the Jets... well earned and deserved... on the road again..

Its easy to see why they won.. brady's magical hair was covered with a hoodie.... :jawdrop:

will be a fun week...

Two wins away from the 'soon to be champs' Espn sticker to be priceless....

Brady, Manning, Rivers. Not a problem for this guy.

He is really a great defensive mind. With #6 taking snaps for the foreseeable future, the front office would be crazy to EVER get rid of this guy. If a title ever does come to the Green side of the Meadowlands, it will be on the shoulders of that defense.

In all honesty I think Rex is just begining to build a defense... I still think he does it with Smoke and mirrors.... Other than Revis he's got a defense of pretty good players with no Natural Pass Rusher....

I'd love to see what he can do when he solidify's the safety position and gets at least 1 natural speed rusher....

I know his injury history is what it is but, Kris Jenkins was supposed to be the next best player - the Ngata of the defense - Not sure where Baltimore would have been without Ngata.....

But, Playoffs Two years as HC:

@CIN

@SD

@IND

@NE

Other than Cincy, those are 3 Great road wins. and 6 Playoff Parties at my house :banned:

I think Rex Ryan is a great coach. I don't agree with everything he says and does, but you can't argue the results. In addition, I really don't think that Jets team is all that good. The Jets are strong at o-line and cb, but this team does not impress me much beyond those positions. Rex deserves a lot of credit here.
