-- Steve Smith Wants More Money? --

Wed Sep 20, 2006 --from FFMastermind.com

The Tampa Tribune reports Panthers WR Steve Smith, who led the league in catches and receiving yardage in 2005, skipped the four preseason games with a strained left hamstring. Now he has missed the first two meaningful games with a strained right hamstring. Rumors are filtering out of Charlotte that Smith is healthy enough to play but is disgruntled with his contract situation. "Steve is a great football player - he proved that to everybody last year," HC John Fox said. "He's a guy we prefer to have out there, but the reality is he's not. When he's ready, he'll be in. Right now, he's not ready."

this post adds exactly zero value.as for whether or not he's holding out (and as an owner of his in two leagues, i'm keeping a close eye" - this is literally the only sentence in which it's mentioned anywhere. only other news is he's checking in with Dr. James Andrews so i'm waiting on word from that, too. either way, there are only more question marks this week, not less.

If he's healthy enough to play, he sure is going through quite a charade by going to see Dr. James Andrews and such. I don't think Dr. Andrews would be a willing participant in the ruse, either.

My guess is that he's legitimately hurt. I have no clue if he wants more money or isn't happy with his contract, but I think the injury and the contract demands are separate issues.

ETA: This is also a report from the Tampa paper. Tampa and Carolina play each other this week, FWIW.

Hey man, sure I played like 14 games the past three years and ####. But I played reeeeaaaal good when I was in there.

Fox said on Sirius tonight that the MRI does show the injury is for real and he's not faking it. He said he also expecxted him to be back on the field as soon as its healed.
From another poster on this board, posted last night. If that's accurate, I'd give little credit to the holdout rumor.

Actually it offers a ton of value. #1, it's our footballguys blogger. Ad revenue from the blogger makes these boards possible. #2 - the statement needs to be in context of the entire article. It's a quick blurb and a small part of the bigger article. That says a lot.

It's an important post for those that want to get a better picture and know how to interpret the news.

Sorry man, but you're wrong! Redundancy adds NOTHING but attention to diversions like this that now will detract from the topic at hand. You get plenty of revenue from us subscribers...do not promote it here!

So you're saying that there is no value in routing a potentially new viewer to the News Blogger service FBG offers?

 I think people would like to know that FBG is reporting the same thing, and its not just something pulled from FFMastermind. Maybe YOU dont, but other folks around here do. Plus, this is FBG and I think a FBG link with the info is appropriate here, and as Joe said, revenue from the Blogger make these boards possible.

I didnt post the same info, I posted the fact that fbg HAS the same info. Giving a 2nd source to info is NOT redundant. Posting the same info would be redundant. Reporting that a 2nd source has the same info is not.

Maybe Steve Smith is gruntled, but his hammy is disgruntled, and his owners are just, plain ####ed. :)

Agreed. Pointing out other sources are reporting and researching the info lets you know there may be something to it.

Wow - you fell for that too? Blogs? Cmon man....these boards existed long before a 'blog' ever did. It is NOT necessary to have any revenue from 'Blogs' to keep these boards 'running'. Of course the 'CEO' is going to say that (all the way to the bank).

oh god  :lmao:

I'm an owner, and I'm not all that disgruntled. Sure, it sucks that he's sitting on the bench, but Smith was available at a reasonable price this year, so it's not devastating. Obviously, if this becomes a long-term situation, that would suck, but even if he misses two more games, it's not such a big deal.

The boards cost more as the traffic increases - both bandwith and hardware. I run an internet business as well and it amazes me how offering free services are taken for granted and as soon as you try to promote your own products trying to make a living, people with and attitude like your complain about greed. Who's greedy when you're the one wanting everything for free?

Can we change the title of this thread to "Pointless drivel" so I don't accidentally open it again trying to find discussion on Steve Smith?
