is Texas the best state in the US? (2 Viewers)

Well that pretty much sums up your choice in user name.
Why? You agreeing with Christo? OK is the worst state in the union, and that's saying a lot. It has no redeemable qualities. Note that Christo got out as soon as he could.
It is pretty much EXACTLY like Texas.
WRONG. It's like the worst parts of Texas, all over the state. OK is the worst state in the union, bar none. You couldn't pay me to live there. I feel sorry for people that do.

On an ignorant scale from one to 10, you're a 14.

Really? Insults? I hoped from more from you. And I'm right, you've obviously not spent a lot of time in OK. It's a ####hole, the likes of which are not seen in Texas. Ok, they are, but only in places we don't mention.

I lived in both states for long periods, same ####### place. You guys have this rivalry which is fine by me (much like Michigan and Ohio), but it's the same ####### place. Same people, same scenery, same right wing governments, same gun lovers, same, same, same.

BS. OK is a horrible swampland populated by mutants. Are there places like that in Texas? Sure. But Texas is a bigger state. OK is the ####### of the universe.

And I moved here from Dallas. If you don't understand that Texas and Oklahoma are two sides of the same coin, I fear for your ability to feed yourself.

I would rather live in Tulsa than any place in Texas.

I've lived 34 of my 55 years in Texas and was born and raised there. I've visited all 50 states. Texas is one of the worst, at least to me. I base my decision on weather, landscape, and politics, which are all subjective, of course. I also really dislike the state pride thing, which seems to be stronger there than any other state.

I don't know, alabama ranks among the tops in obesity and bottom in education. not a combination i'd want to be around.

I could really get behind that list. Top 6 really solid.

I'm never a fan of the whole low cost of living argument. I like when places cost more. It keeps out a certain element that I don't want to be around.

Living in Houston. Its been at least 3 months since Ive been able to be outside for an extended period of time.
How long have you been here. It takes a good 3 years to acclimate.
Since October. Cant remember a day where its been under 85, most of the time in the low to mid 90's. Makes doing anything outdoors pretty taxing. Ive heard it takes time to acclimate so I hope it gets better. Also this non-step air conditioning is wreaking havoc on my sinuses and lungs. Already had bronchitis and a sinus infection.

That seems pretty awful.

Maybe by Houston standards 85+ since Oct is splendid.

Not to mention all the awesomeness of Texas. I'll put our BBQ, Tex-Mex, Blue Bell, Shiner Bock, Whole Foods, breastesses, guns, oil, hospitals, taxes etc against whatever you got.

this is true but the cost of living has dramatically increased in certain areas. You're lucky to get a nice 1 bedroom 800 sq ft. apt in Upper Kirby under $2,000.
