Is the Drudge Report Racist? (1 Viewer)

On virtually a daily basis, the Drudge Report has links to articles about "flash mobs", riots, fights in fast food joints and the like. In all the cases I've seen, the perpetrators of the bad behavior have been black.

Surely there are asians and/or whites engaging such activities, aren't there? Is Drudge selective in its reporting?

Just playing to the fears of their readers. The savage black man is an animal without remorse, ethics or empathy, and should therefore be considered subhuman.

It is not unusual for Eugune Robinson to write and oped that mentions brings up the issue of being black. Does this make him racist? Surely he can write an article about whites, orientals, jewish, etc...

Another example of what I mean about Drudge. Okay, so in this case it's a bunch of blacks behaving badly. That's all Drudge seems to report. Surely there are other places where whites are doing something similar. Where's Drudge when those go down?

Yes, indeed it is shocking that an African American journalist would bring up black related issues.

So whites should only write about whites, orientals should just write about orientals, etc.... Great!

The acceptable term now is "Asians"...just sayin'.

This doesn't seem like a Jim11 thread. Are you sure you posted this under the correct alias?
:goodposting: I think he meant to start this with his Flying Spaghetti Monster alias, only forgot to log out. That's why FSM was so quick to jump in and agree with Jim, which never happens.

Who said Robinson writes or should write exclusively about black issues? He even wrote about Sarah Palin yesterday, who I assume is white.Sarah Palin is ignorant and dangerous

Sadly, some people think like this and carry it even further...Four white teachers in a predominantly black Philadelphia school are suing the principal, charging that he said they were unfit to teach black students. The Root

OMG!!! A story about a black guy doing something questionable. It's best not to hold him accountable until we can find a comparable example from another race. Let's just hope this problem goes away by itself.

Wait a minute a Black Man in position of authority over white women - OMG he might "corrupt" them.

Drudge Report ruins its credibility on a weekly basis. For years, it's blatantly pushed its anti-global warming agenda by front paging any below average temperature globally, even as worldwide average temperatures have reached record highs. Then, prior to the last election, the rag became a straight up propaganda mouthpiece, as did Fox, for the Republican strategy/talking points that were blatantly untrue. So if Drudge decides now that it pushes an agenda to get his core audience good and lathered up about Blacks, then he'll be relentless in that pursuit. No counterbalance, just the way Matt Drudge wants you to view the world for political purposes.

Well, we can't have Drudge/Fox doing that. All news outlets should be perfectly neutral in regards to politics, like MSNBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, NBC, Huffington Post, Washington Post, New York Times...oh, wait.

There's the Jim11 we know.

Not the first complaints by teachers abotu racist prinicpals at this school:

The school has a history of racial tensions going back to 2007, when a white principal departed over complaints by black teachers.

The next year, a mural at the school was marked with anti-Semitic graffiti - followed by Ray's arrival for the 2008-09 school year.
Gee two racist principals of different colors sued by offended teachers of the opposite color. At the same school within a year of each other. And that doesn't smell a bit to anyone?

Does anyone else think it's weird that no matter what the thread topic, Jewell always has some link queued up with a negative story about black people and/or muslims?

I prefer to cite my sources because facts are more persuasive than opinions. Particularly mine.Your point shows how we view things differently. You see my above post as a critique of "black people". I see it as a critique on an individual who happens to be black. You see me sharing that article as racist. I see me sharing an article about a racist. The point is at the if you honestly believe that race is irrelevant, which I do, then why the apprehension in holding people of different races to the same standard? My complete lack of apprehension may discomfort some, but my lack of apprehension stems from hanging around with mainly black friends and holding them to the same standard I hold my other friends. The Muslim thing is because I feel strongly about women's rights and gay rights. I also feel strongly, in the case of Europe, that society altering steps should be discussed with members of that society (call me crazy on that one.) I always differentiate between those Muslims committing the actions and the remaining, overwhelming majority who are not. My Nigerian buddy doesn't seem to have your concerns when we discuss how this issue applies to his homeland.

The weird part is the way you shoehorn them in, even when they're only tangentially related to the discussion at hand. It's like you saw a thread accusing a white guy of racism and thought "Oh no, I'd better remind everyone that black people can be racist too!", which seems like just the opposite of your stated claim to hold everyone accoutable regardless of race.

Just as Drudge does not only post only one kind of story, either does Mr Robinson. As the OP mentioned does a tendancy by Drudge make it racist.

I don't think I'm guilty of doing that. If I am it's only to show that in many instance where we infer white racism, we don't infer black racism to the comparable example. For instance, if a site that caters to black news like The Root (which I linked above) were to carry news stories about a wave of white mobs attacking black people, and this troubling issue was not being addressed by mainstream sources, I would think, "I'm glad somebody is drawing attention to this." But now when the races are reversed I'm supposed to change that conclusion and find the reporting of facts to be abhorrent? No, I'm very consistent on treating others equally, as individuals, and based on their actions. When I do what you're accusing me of, it's to show that many in our society aren't nearly as consistent as me, and such inconsistency can lead to problems like, say, the issue that Drudge is reporting.

Yes, agree.Probably should be "European American, Asian American, African America, Native American..."

Oriental is a rug not a person

Some folks who should know about racism sure seem to enjoy his work:

Drudge Report currently resembles CofCC.org

The extremely popular news aggregate Drudge Report appears to be the only major news outlet bringing up the astronomical amount of black crime taking place. Its current headlines resemble those of CofCC.org. According to Alexa.com, more Americans visit Drudge Report than NBC.com, MSNBC.com, or CBS.com. It is about tied with ABCNews.com.

Low born white supremacist scum
And who might these folks be? You may have gleaned something from the link title but I'll spell it out. Well they are the CCC. Conservative Citizens Council. They are folks that say things like "Black Americans are a retrograde species". And they are cozy with skinheads. You are known by the company you keep and Drudge is keeping some pretty nasty company here.

Here's what I always find amusing about the Drudge Report - The pictures of Hillary Clinton.

I'm not a fan of the "alarmist" nature of Drudge, but I am a conservative, and since The Daily Show has their fun mocking the right, I usually get a small amount of enjoyment looking at the photos he posts of Hillary. Never flattering. Always clownish. This morning is no exception.

The photo that Drudge has posted of Hillary today looks like someone asked her to do an impression of Monica Lewinsky.
