Is there any reason you would start Willie Parker? (1 Viewer)

I sat him for Fred Jackson yesterday with the playoffs on the line...saved my season in 2 PPR leagues.

16 team league.

It's either he or Chambers at my flex position.

I have to start him.

Damn I've got a lot of crow to eat with FWP. I thought he'd be the second coming this season.

He is still on pace for 1400 yards, same as last season. There is no TD's though. Thats not Parkers Fault. They are passing

Maybe it's the rain, the last 3 rain games Willie has been horrible. The O-line has been getting blown back in these rain games.

He'll probably be good week 16 on the turf in St.Louis...until then I'm not sure

Funny how things turn out, Jamal Lewis has emerged as my every week no-brainer starter. Never would've thought I'd be saying those words.

I can't afford to start Parker next week. Wish it weren't so. In PPR leagues, there's just too many better options right now.

He's still the #17 RB for the year, after an abysmal 3 week stretch.

You have to be pretty stacked at RB if you have this guy and you're not starting him. He's been a disappointment, to be sure, but people are jumping overboard on this. You're crazy IMO if you don't start him against STL.

He'll be on my bench in week 14 and 15 when Pitt plays NE and Jax. I have Lewis to take his place and his matchups are much more appealing. Parker is consistant with about 10 or so points a game, but there doesn't seem to be any upside anymore. I was hoping to have at least one or two monster games from him this year but they never came, even though they'll probably come in the two weeks that I'm sitting him. Plus, I was really excited about his schedule leading into the playoffs these past few weeks but he's done donkey with it. I do like that St Louis matchup as well that thewick mentioned.

I didn't think he would be good as many were projecting him to be (I had the number 5 pick in my draft and never considered taking him), as I didn't think he would score as much this year as he did last year, but I didn't think he would drop off this much.

In my 12 team league I got FWP at 10 and Maroney on the way back. I thought I was set. Now I'm looking at using guys like Kolby Smith and Foster instead of FWP. Needless to say Maroney has been on my bench for weeks. My playoffs start next week and FWP is facing NE. He couldn't even get me pts vs CINN last night. :goodposting:

FWP struggles are all Tomlin's fault, he is not using him in the correct situations that Cowher was able to utilize.

:D

THis is actually a really good question. My option is LenDale White.

After the Ravens showed that NE can definitely be run on I was considering starting FWP. But then again, the Steelers dont have Ogden for FWP to run behind.

THis is going to be a tough one. Im in a PPR league and FWP is really sucking it up this year by not getting looks in the passing game. Im leaning towards White...

I came into this dynasty season looking like the best team in my 12 team league at the RB. I had R. Bush, Willie Parker, Frank Gore and D. Williams. All three of the 1st guys mentioned were projected to be in the top 10-12 or so. D. Williams was a sleeper with potential to be in the top 10-15. Instead...Bush is the only one to crack the top ten (at 10th right now), Gore 14th and Parker 24th in RB rankings. Williams isn't even top 40.

With all of that youth, hype and leverage at RB I had you'd think 1 of those would emerge as a top 5 stud..NOT!

Another input for anyone reading this thread via searches....

I've qualified for playoffs that run weeks 15-16 (4 playoff teams in 12-team league). We start 2 RBs with FBG standard scoring. I will probably not start Parker both weeks. Including week 14 for kicks:

wk 14 wk 15 wk 16

Willie Parker @NE Jax @StL

Edgerrin James @Sea @NO Atl

Ryan Grant Oak @StL @Chi

Starters:

14: Edge + Grant

15: Edge + Grant

and if I somehow win week 15 (I will not be favored):

16: Edge + Parker

Frankly, I can't picture myself benching him. At the very least his 8-10 points are consistent. Perhaps that is a consistent average or below score, but at least it is not something where I wonder what he will provide for me week in and week out.

You know, the more I think about it, benching FWP for the playoffs is pretty ridiculous. I think the following is a good analogy.

Imagine you someone luckboxed your way into dating a supermodel, let's say Giselle Bundchen. You have dated her for 3 months. You've wined and dined her, and had some good times together, but thus far you've been unable to close the deal. You've been close, but she says she's not ready, needs a little more time, wants it to be special, etc.

Understandably that would be a little frustrating but what are you going to do? You're still dating a super model and it looks like the deal could get sealed any day now. But still there's no gurantees. Of course, in week 13 you could pick up some other girl at a bar who you think is easier and dump Giselle, but that would be pretty dumb.

In conclusion, unless you have another supermodel you could date on your bench (and in all likelihood you don't), your best bet is to stick with Giselle. Even if you never cross home plate you will know you gave it your best shot with a supermodel. Nothing to be ashamed of.

And in case you're wondering, Edge and KJ aren't supermodels.

Kolby Smith out of flex and into RB, Parker to the bench. Sidney Rice into flex. So essentially benching Parker for Sidney Rice.

Balls of steel. Or monumental idiocy.

If I'm not in the playoffs after this week because of this decision, so be it. Roll the dice.

Check out this mish-mash of uppers and downers...

FWP

Maroney

Grant

D.Foster

Taylor

C.Brown

K.Faulk

Pick 3...

I'm just going with the 1st 3.

I had a Supermodel- Larry Johnson and he was my #1 pick, Parker I got in the second round one draft spot ahead of the guy who drafted Henry. (Who I later picked up off waiver)Willie has been that "Supermodel" only on a couple of occasions for me this season (week 2 and week 8) the rest of the season he's been right around 10 points per game which is less than my wide receivers are giving me! plus I feel that Grant and Henry and quite possibly Fred Jackson(on my Bench) are probably going to be ranked pretty high next season and are playing better than Willie is now. I may start Willie in week 16 if he snaps out of this scoring funk. 2 TD's on the season is ridiculous for a stud running back.

Yeah, but your supermodel is playing NE, in which case she's going to get skewered by Tom Brady.

I'd give anything to have him right now in the league where I just lost Bush. That said, I'm sitting him in my PPR league for D. Mason. There's just too many better options this week. If it bites me, I'll live with it.
