Is There going to be a flex game next sunday night? (1 Viewer)

I could see them picking Packers/Bears, hyping it as the possible last game of Brett Favre's career. It being a classic rivalry helps, too.

so pats/titans is in primetime if jets win? i read on another board that those were the 3 games that were up for flex

Horrible choice.

Considering the Giants game is on Saturday Night, the logical choice would have been the Broncos or Jets games. Those are the only two games that will certainly matter. Moving the Jets game would ensure a New York audience and a Cincinnati audience (along with whatever from Oakland's area), which would probably draw more ratings than a meaningless game between two teams. (GB could easily be eliminated before kickoff, and CHI has clinched the #1 seed).

And no one really thinks Favre will retire, anyway, do they?

Cheeseheads of the world, start rooting for the Skins.

Personally I'd love to see the Packers make it...even tho their team is pretty mediocre.

Agreed. Id love to see another playoff game with Favre involved. Favre is having a much better year, that D is much improved, and the team is on the rise at a whole. It'll probably peak after Favre's gone though because they still have holes and Ahman is old as well, but who knowsIf they make it in, I think the Pack and Favre would give (it looks its either seattle or philly i think) a very tough time, possibly even winning the wildcard gamebut they gotta get in first

Favre would need a LOT of that old magic to get out of the wildcard game if they even make it there. To think they would have pretty much locked that playoff spot if they hadn't f@cked up a couple games they should have won. I felt bad for all the cheeseheads watching GB @ BUF at the local bar. That's one that got away.

The NFC is dreadful, but I'd give Carolina the best chance of pulling an upset in the playoffs. The 3 and 4 seeds are probably the worst 3 and 4 seeds since the six-team playoff system began. Seattle is absolutely awful, playing the 29th easiest schedule and allowing 22 more points than they've scored? That's a joke. Dallas, as bad as they are, should smoke them.

The Eagles are playing great football right now, but I don't think anyone would be surprised if they lost their first playoff game to the Panthers, or went and ran the table to the 'Bowl. The whole NFC is unpredictable.

Not only the BUF game, but the STL and NO game were easily winnable as well. If only we would kick field goals on first down in the red zone, we would alreayd have our playoff spot locked up

this is really going to F up some NYE plans for people in Chicago.

Packers/Bears games always have meaning.

I thought KC-JAX had a real chance.....I don't get this decision. I would have taken...

KC-JAX

NE-TEN

PIT-CIN

ATL--PHIL

over GB-CHI

That okay though, means I can get out of Arrowhead @ a decent hour.

Unless numerous things pan out in a specific direction, KC-Jax will likely be a meaningless boring inter-conference game, with no bearing on the playoffs at all. At least Packers/Bears is a classic rivalry, and like I said last night, being able to hype it as possibly Brett Favre's last game ever will help.

First off, if its anything, its intra-conference bc they're in the same conference. also, they're both still alive for the playoffsSecond, its not Favre's last game. And besides that, they'll probably be eliminated before the game even starts because they need every 7-8 team to lose (and NYG play on saturday) :sadbanana:

all the games ashcraft listed (minus NE/TEN bc TEN doesn't have a much of a chance) are much better because they include teams that if they win, have a very good chance of making the playoffs. GB doesn't have that good of a shot

You would love to see Favre throw 6ints again? The packers are not a good team, and do not deserve to be in the playoffs. Last weeks game vs the vikings was absolutely horrible. They cant score once they are inside the 20 because they refuse to give the ball to ahman green or Vernand Morency. Instead they try to throw it in and favre consistenly throws ints. The Packers would have won a couple of more games if they had just run the ball inside the 10, but they think this is 1996 and Favre is an elite qb.

Is that so? I thought the Packers had the next TB after the Giants. I know that if the Giants win then the Packers need certain teams to win/lose in addition to beating the Bears.I don't think any of the teams you listed have "a much better" shot of getting in. I don't see either the Jets losing to Oakland or the Broncos losing to San Francisco. The NFC is so pathetic that I could actually envision the Packers getting in. I'm an AFC dude so I don't have much rooting interest in the NFC, but I rather see a team like the Packers who're still fighting than a team like the Giants who have played with no heart and no balls over the past couple of months.

 (and I'm a Packer fan)Horrible choice by NBC.

My bad.
Second, its not Favre's last game.
You missed the point. The point is that Favre has not said whether or not he is coming back, so the NFL can hype the game up as possibly the last time to ever see Brett Favre play.

Tennessee has a better shot than Kansas City does. And theoretically, GB has a better shot than Jax or KC, if you play the percentages.

One last PUKE FEST of Madden drooling all over Brett Favre!

THAT is why this game was chosen.

I know many a Bears fan that is pissed off - they had plans for New Year's Eve and now they have to cancel their plans or sell their tix.

I'll bet there's a lot of tix available on ebay and stub-hub.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think we're forgetting something regarding the selection of this weeks flex game. I believe CBS and FOX both have the ability to block certain games from moving to NBC. So if CBS/FOX have blocked some of the more attractive games mentioned in this thread, maybe the GB-CHI game was the best left-over. I could be wrong, though.

This is what I was thinking. Plus there are limits to how many times an individual team can be put on Prime Time games (Sat/Sun/Mon nighters) that I'm sure didn't help with the selection choices.
