I love The State. Probably not a great example of their comedy.

I don't think anything on The State was funny. This is pretty much in line with all the stuff they did.

The State was probably the first show that did the type of comedy we see a lot on TV and in movies today. I don't know if it has a label, but it's what Will Farrell and Steve Carrell do most of the time. Just being a strange guy and the jokes are below the surface. The State was the first to do (well, attempt) that.

It had a premise to be potentially funny, but never actually turned the corner and got there.

Must have been in the second half. The premise wasnt even good from what I witnessed.
