Isaac Redman, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers (1 Viewer)

He tore his ACL in January and is already back? With him and AP, I can only assume the surgical techniques have improved incredibly in the past 5 years

Mendy possibly starts the opener?

“I’ll leave the door open for all of them,” said Tomlin. “We’ll see how they respond to the workload.”

Of the three, Mendenhall was the biggest surprise at Monday’s practice. His burst and long speed had the defensive players buzzing.

“He looked incredible,” said Brett Keisel.

“I thought he looked great. He was running well, finishing runs. I’m excited for him,” said Lawrence Timmons.

OH COME ON!!!Although now Im definitely going to be targeting Mendy around the 10th or so with all the positive news, Im still going to keep my eye on Dwyer 5 rounds later or so.

This smells like the Redskins three headed RB monster. I'm going to hold on Redman for a few weeks unless something better pops up on the ww.

Oh, I absolutely would. Redman just took on a groin injury at exactly the wrong time. There still is a shot for him to shine.
Now that Mendenhall is ahead of schedule and could play soon, how do you see the RB situation shaking out? Do they alternate series, or will there become a clear #1 RB, 3rd down RB, COP, etc.?

With Haley, its in flux. I don't think he has (unlike Tomlin or some other coaches) any favoritism to any of the running backs. So I dont think you can make a call beyond the back or backs who prove most effective will get used accordingly.Which is most problematic for Mendenhall,... though Haleys presence could make him step up his game.

Mendenhall had a faster 40 time than AP and less work on his knees, as long as he is healthy and they aren't bringing him back too quickly he is the clear #1.

This was a horrific situation last year with a healthy Mendenhall. Now there are health questions, more RB's in the mix, etc. I am staying far, far away. This comign from a Mendy owner who watched just about every snap last year. That line is just so, so bad. Nothing like the glory years. DeCastro going down was the nail in the coffin. I'm sure there's value there somewhere. In what round, and with what RB, and in what specific game (many games will show 15-32 for the lead back) - your guess is as good as mine.

Just picked him up as a FA in a 10 teamer roster of 15. He should produce like he always has... Charles, ADP and Mendy returning this quick makes it obvious the times have changed on the procedures and recovery time. Technology can make people get better quicker now too.

Mendy will start when healthy...that's Tomlins boy. The backups will be whoever is best and I think this week will help determine that. Rainey is more of a McCluster type back who will be lined up everywhere.

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, Isaac Redman's ankle injury could be an issue "the entire season."

The writing is on the wall gentleman. Better to be proactive than reactive. Nobody knows the extent of Redman's body and injuries but him and the Steelers. There is obviously smoke there. Mendenhall is not ready, I find it funny how people are so quick to dismiss an ACL within 8 months. Whatever the media is saying, this is gamesmanship on Pitt's part. They want you to think that. Even if he were to play Week 1 he would not be able to absorb anything more than a handful of carries. And even if he's playing by Week 3 or 4, how effective is he going to be? Are they really going to depend on an injured dog when there is clearly a younger, more healthier guy that is ready to go? Whether you agree or not or are looking for Mendenhall/Redman confirmation, the opportunity is clearly in Dwyer's lap.

But Tomlin doesn't have full control of personnel decisions. Mendenhall will be a FA after this season, so Dwyer really has a chance to show something, whether Tomlin's "boy" is Mendy or not.

Is Redman a hold or is he becoming waiver wire material already?
:blackdot:Drafted Redman but Mendenhall is on the WW. Is the play to drop Redman and grab Mendenhall??
Similar type of position but I have Mendenhall and could use other positions I need backups for. With the line looking unreliable and the questioning of how healthy this guys knee really is 8 months removed from an ACL tear I almost feel like Im wasting a roster spot by carrying him. Realize I just need to be patient.. But just a lot of questions that may not get answered for several weeks at the least it seems and I put myself in a delicate spot stocking up on RB with other needs exposed if everything doesnt go right health wise.

Is Redman starting today??

ETA: Nevermind...he is.

Worth a start is the better question...

wouldn't be surprised to see Dwyer get more touches and Rainey contribute...."starting" doesn't always = best play.....

Today - 12:25 PM ET

Jonathan Dwyer's foot injury is being called turf toe.

It's a really bad injury for a running back, but Dwyer doesn't appear to have a severe case. He got in two full days of practice last week and then touched the ball 13 times against the Jets. We'd expect a similar schedule as the Steelers get set for Sunday's game in Oakland.

I'm assuming it's worth watching practice this week, but Oakland was gashed by Reggie Bush last week. The 4:05pm start time isn't ideal, but Mendenhall likley out again, Redman could carry the mail..

Dwyer runs wild in preseasonIf healthy, he's the best runner in Pittsburgh. Redman finishes year with RB4-type #'s.
Still on the Dwyer bandwagon here. I think if he's in shape, he's going to end up as their 1st/2nd down back.
:coffee: Have fun in the rearview mirror gentlemen. In before the "But Craig, Isaac ran wild Week 17 vs. Cleveland and playoffs vs. that stellar Bronco run D".Have a good season.
Thanks Craig.
