Issac Bruce Released (1 Viewer)

I am not a Ram fan, but it has to be hard to see him go. Is he still interested in playing (have not heard any talk otherwise)? At this point I am not even sure where he would fit...SF with Martz...but every FA WR has been linked to SF.

Would guess he gets resigned...he was due a $2 mil roster bonus that made keeping him difficult.

If not, obvious guess puts him as a 49er.

As to the OP's comment...its been Torry Time, but maybe Drew Bennett will also look less like a FA bust next season because of this.

Same thing happened with Bruce a year or two ago. Another team could swoop in but he will most likely sign back with the Rams.

how does this guy not retire a ram?be a damn shame
Bruce is the third leading receiver in NFL history. The two guys in front of him didn't play for just one team, either.
Doesn't mean it should be that way. It was sad to see Jerry Rice don a Raiders uniform of all things (let's not mention that Denver try out), too.
Don't forget about Seattle.
Since you mentioned Seattle, that might be another potential landing spot for Bruce. I really don't know what to expect from Deion Branch at this point, and that knee may very well not be ready to go. Seems like he'd fit well in that offense.

Seattle would be a terrible fit for Bruce IMHO. The 'hawks prefer their receivers to have stone hands and be incapable of generating YAC.

I saw that someone wrote in another thread and I think makes sense but why would he play for less in St. Louis, didn't they only win like 2-3 games last year?

And the Largent Unretired Jersey Fiasco. And it's just sad to see any good or likeable player sign in Oakland.eta: My guess is that unless another team offers him something sweet, he'll re-sign in StL and finish up there. If he doesn't then he'll do a one day contract when he wants to retire.

It would be like Franco Harris in a Seahawks jersey...Johnny U in a Chargers jersey...Joe Montana in a Chiefs uni...Jim McMahon in a Chargers uni, then a Eagles jersey, then a Vikes jersey, then a PACKERS jersey at the Super Bowl

I wouldn't know where to look at YAC numbers but I think Bruce's (and Holt's) YAC numbers are at or below average as of the last couple years. They seem to catch the ball and dive if there is a player w/in 3 yards. If anyone can point me the direction of where to find this stat I will post. I will say that he posted the lowest YPC since his rookie year, second lowest amount of receptions and second lowest YPG since his rookie year.Hopefully he can retire with the Rams but local sports talk radie claims he turned down $3m a year to play this year.

its always sad to see a great player leave his original team in this day & age of increasingly mercenary player & front office mentality... i think bruce is the last legacy player from los angeles rams days (rookie year last in LA?)... he might be one of the most underrated WRs in NFL history in that he is probably rarely mentioned in conversations about best ever, but as chase pointed out, he has a ridiculous body of work historically in terms of receptions & yards...

the rams spent a lot on bennett, & no doubt want to start getting a return on their investment...

and lets face it, as good as bruce has looked in recent seasons (when healthy & before OL imploded), this is a moment many expected for the past few years...

i agree pats could be a nice destination... it would probably be bruce's best & maybe last chance to win another super bowl... if he turned down a $3 mil a year offer with rams (was it guaranteed?), not certain he will get that in NE, so he may be motivated more by money than going to a contender? that line of thinking wouldn't point to SF (despite martz)...

he went to school at memphis st. (?)... maybe the titans? :goodposting:

* gruden likes vets... pair him with galloway for one of oldest WRs tandems in recent history...

** KC could use another vet WR to mentor bowe, & going to chiefs wouldn't entail a big move geographically...

I watched Bruce last year and he looked great, Ran good routes, good speed and good hands. Bruce will play a couple of more years in this league.
