It's not out of the question Pierre Garçon plays this week (1 Viewer)

Just read a couple of reports that say Pierre Garçon "has a better chance of playing this week than you think"...I grabbed him off the ww on the off chance that Garçon can come back and contribute...Are there any Washington homers out there who may have better information on the pontential return of Garçon?

Only thing I've seen is that he was in pain yesterday. Would be surprised if he's able to go and be effective (and I own him in a bunch of leagues).

As long as the Skins are in the hunt I could see them gambling on playing Garcon once he's close to 100%, but given the nature of his injury a loss or two and they'll shut him down. Long term risk isn't worth it if tey aren't in a battle for the playoffs.

I'm pretty much with wdcrob, in that I'd be surprised if he was able to play effectively this week, if at all. He's supposed to try and practice again today, so we should know a little bit more in a couple of hours (or less).

If you need to fill a lineup spot this week, you may want to grab another option before it's gone. But if you're just looking to nab Garcon ahead of a potential return, so you can use him later, he's probably not the worst gamble you can take.

If you have the room this is a no brainer. The guy if healthy (and if it's a big if) is a solid #2 wr. If not you drop him next week...I for one think it's worth the add. At this point in the season is there really anything worth grabbing of the ww that could have more potential impact?

Boom bust flyer that could payoff huge. Low downside as he is on most WWs. Plus he's either a go, or a shut down soon. Wtf not?

He's still complaining of pain, I own him everywhere but won't start him if he plays. I'll be betting he'll be shut down next week.

From Rotoworld:

"Pierre Garcon (foot) participated in Wednesday's practice.

Garcon appeared to get in a limited session. Per beat writer Chris Russell, Garcon was "not as chatty" as S Brandon Meriweather (knee), who was in "good spirits" after making his own return to practice. Russell reported earlier Wednesday that Garcon's chances of playing in Week 11 are "better than you think," but the signs still point toward Garcon missing yet another game"

Redskins WR Pierre Garcon says foot might never heal

Robert Klemko, USA TODAY SportsShare

5:22PM EST November 12. 2012 - ASHBURN, Va. -- A return from a bye week has put three injured projected starters back on the practice field for the Washington Redskins, though there's no promise that any of them will see the field Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Wide receiver Pierre Garcon, who has missed six games with a torn foot ligament, has opted against season-ending surgery and practiced Monday on a limited basis, though he admitted the pain in his foot is constant.

"I can't tell you guys much of anything about what's going on, but it's getting back into a groove," he said. "It's not 100%. It's a pain all the time. Walking, running, cutting. All the time. I'll probably have to deal with it the rest of my life.

"I never really want to get surgery unless it's a must. The surgery is not guaranteed to fix it, so that's another thing. I've never had surgery. If I have to get surgery, I'll get it, but they'll have to put me under for a long time and do it while I'm not paying attention at all."

From Dr. Jene Bramel:Pierre Garcon was practicing on the side today, but he’s not necessarily any close to returning. I’m speculating here, but I think the vast majority of players with his injury would have already undergone surgery. It looks to me like Garcon has refused surgery and is making an effort to convince himself he can play through the injury. He’s at high risk of dislocating his toe should he do so. I’ll be surprised if he’s pain free this week and ready to play. More likely, he’ll have no choice but surgery.

Search the earlier threads about Garcon. Dude is donezo until he has surgery. He will likely only tease and hurt himself worse if he returns this season.

That's why I think the Skins will bag his season with another L or 2, they may let him give it a go if they're in the hunt because if he is able to do some productive things they may be able to get some work out of him. He'll need surgery regardless, but even if he doesn't do it until February he should still be ready for OTA's.

Surgery MAY never fix it, but it also MAY fix it.

He seems so scared to get surgery since he's never had a procedure done.

Get the damn surgery, Garcon.

Kyle Shanahan on Garcon:

Kyle on Garcon "He doesn't have to be 100% to play." Says they know that's not realistic, so they want to get what they can get.
Starting to sound like he's going to give it a go on Sunday. Still up in the air about how effective he can be.

Per kffl DANIEL LARUSSO IS GOING TO FIGHT!

He's playing this weekend  :banned:

It seems to be something called "capsulitis of the second toe".
