J. Best owners - What are you doing this week? (1 Viewer)

I'm starting Best with confidence this week in PPR over Mathews, Spiller, McGahee, Choice.

In PPR format his floor is pretty high because he catches 5+ balls a game.

I'm projected to win the week by 20 points, so I'm taking the sure points.

I can see being down on Best a little, but why on earth does anyone anywhere think Donald Brown is worth starting?

No RB of note made the trip to Philly besides D.Brown. He practiced all week. He's not even listed on the Injured List. Manning to going to run if the box is light, pass if the box is full. If I'm the Eagles, I play the pass and take my chances with the Colts running game that lacks a run blocking TE. Should make things simplier than last week when Brown got his chances in obvious running situations (and Hart got his from passing looks).Bottomline: I'm torn. I'm trying to convince myself to stay away from Best vs. the Jets (which is a horrible non-PPR matchup).

That's where I am at as well... I've got Brandon Jackson in right now, but I'm not feeling too good about it

Well I benched Brandon Jackson and Steve Smith (Car) for him. ;)

NON-PPR league, right? If it was a PPR league, I would be starting Best over Jackson.

For me a PPR league, which is why I'm trepidatiously starting Best.

Still hemming and hawing over starting Hillis ahead of Best in a PPR league. Rolling with Hillis and hoping.

The lions can't run the ball. They really aren't gonna be able to run the ball vs the Jets. BUT...do you think the Lions know this and will abandon the run all together hence putting Best out in the flat more often? Is there a better way to "defend" against a strong blitz than dropping the RB out in the flat (see Foster vs. the Giants blitz last week)The PPR rankings this week have him as RB#10. What are your thoughts?
I'm still debating Best, Blount or Bryant for my Flex (starting Turner and Megatron in a PPR league). Best should get enough receptions/yardage for PPR players. My problem is balancing Best with Blount (hot, but in tough w/ Atl run D) and Braynt (on road @GB w/Kitna but playing from behind). Would appreciate any last minute advice.

starting him over collie in a non-PPR league

best is the #1 RB on the team with a high ceiling

collie is the #3 WR on a team

i see that they could likely of equal numbers (i.e. ~80 yards), but best has better chances to score (from goalline touches or breaking one on turf)

In a non-ppr league, i'm leaning towards starting Wells over Best at my Flex.

I'm sure you will all agree, correct?

5.00 5 Receptions

0.00 0 Fumbles Lost (to Opponent)

4.00 40 Receiving Yards

4.80 48 Rushing Yards

13.80 Subtotal

Pretty standard day, and def. serviceable in my PPR. But I can see how this is not getting it done in non ppr.

In other games this year, I have felt Best was indecisive or lacked the burst of speed he had Weeks 1 & 2.

Today I really felt it was the play calling.

Maybe the O-line is so horrible nothing would work, but most runs between tackles were always +1 or -1. Nothing new, been that way for weeks. What was new is he had two really nice runs on cutback runs, and looked better in passing game. I actually am less concerned about his toe after this week. He seems like he looks more himself, even though statistically it probably seems like same-o same-o.

ETA: I don't think I did a good job articulating my point...when he got in space today, he looked great. Its just it was rare they ran any plays where he had room to work with.

Agree on all accounts. He had no chance for positive yardage on almost runs inside/between the tackles. I feel like they need to utilize him more in space, as it is obvious he is electric and has that crazy burst.

Think I'm sitting him in my PPR 2RB/2WR/Flex league for Miles Austin...RB: Arian Foster - 35.7RB: Ray Rice - 25WR: Hakeem Nicks - 24.8WR: Calvin Johnson - 2.3Flex: Miles Austin - 3.6
Best - 13.8Oops, cost me 10 points but more from the Cowboys stinking and me underestimating Revis again than Best doing well.

Best looked his Best yesterday. he had the speed back. He had a TD taken away by a timeout called as the ball was being snapped. not a penatly type call back. I dont liek to say if it wasnt for that penalty type stuff because sometimes its the penalty that gives the RB the room to score the TD but in this cae no one including us the viewers knew the Jets called a TO and they all were playing hard and Best scored a tough TD.

If it wasnt for that we would be saying what a great game Best had, 20+ points and he would have been a fantasy star. and this was against the number 2 rushing D so the numbers he did were admirable. things get easier for best going forward, could be a good #2 RB going forward. Hes going to get 15-20 runs a week and 5-6 targets in the passing game. 100 plus yards a week is not out of the question. would have had it today if not for the TO.

yep, if it wasn't for that dumb 12 man timeout, he'd have had just under 20 for me against the top ranked defense in the league. He will continue to put up average numbers in the rushing department (esp. as long as they play call the way they did yesterday) but his receptions and YAC will keep his floor in the 10+ points range. Sprinkle in some long TD's and I'm happy.

I was a little worried, but he did better than average against the Jets. I saw that TD on the ticker and I was wondering what happened. Too bad they didn't give him the ball the carry before when Smith lost a yard. As mentioned, without the timeout, he has a great day against one of the top couple rush defenses.

I have honestly been a little down on him, but when I took the time to look at what he's given my team on a week to week basis, I'm quite happy. Being able to rely on a minimum of 13 points every week from my RB2 or Flex starter is something that I'm perfectly comfortable with. When he happens to have a breakout game, that will just make it sweeter.

I have started him every week (except for his bye, obviously), and have yet to be killed by him. He was certainly a better choice than Mike Williams Seattle or Beanie Wells, both of which I was considering over him.

Thinking of dropping him in my redraft league. He'd probably have more value starting for someone else in my league lol.

I own Best in my dynasty league and I keep turning down bottom feeder offers. His value is so low right now that I wouldn't even think about trading him this early.

He's permabenched barring some unforeseen breakout. I'm just really disappointed I turned down a deal for Rodgers prior to the trade deadline because the other owner kept insisting on including Best.

Is he even worth holding onto at this point? I am thinking of cutting bait. Has anyone kicked him to the curb?

In REDRAFT, i would dump him since the turf toe won't likely improve this season & its killing his abilities... Morris looked real good.

in DYNASTY, he's a very solid talent who is injured, obviously a hold.

If the toes are getting worse and can't get better without a long period of rest, then why wouldn't the Lions put him on IR?

He obviously can't contribute right now. I'm thinking they're either trying to give him some real time off or else he'll be shelved for the season soon.

I'm going to try to hold until we get some clarification, but it'll depend on if anyone juicy is on the WW.

I picked up Morris already...I was thinking of picking up Jerome Harrison as a flyer if McCoy gets injured. Just seems like even he has more upside than Best at this point.

Best does not have much value left at all in redraft. The Lions hopefully will get a bigger stronger RB and use Best as the third down RB as his skill set suggests. That would make Best another wasted first rd pick though.
