J. Norwood (1 Viewer)

is norwood playing today? i see he is probable so it looks like it, but how much will he play. have some injuries on the team that i have norwood.

He will play, but I expect much of the running game to go through Dunn. Dunn only needs 58 yards to break 10,000 and IMO Atlanta will want it to happen this week. They have won two in a row and are healthier than they have been all year.

Completely agree, he'll get his normal 6-8, and is always a threat to break one, but can't be counted on.

they're doing something funky down there in atlanta, and i until you see norwood get 20 touches in a single game, i wouldn't start him unless you absolutely needed to... they keep messing with people and inferring that norwood will get more touches, but what does that really mean?.. maybe a couple more touches? i doubt norwood carries the load any time this year... just my thoughts.

Possibly a good play.

But man, if I had a nickle for every time a coach said, "We've gotta get XXX more touches" I'd be rich enough to share it with everyone on this board.

Just tired of hearing it. (says the Calvin Johnson owner)

I don't mean to turn this into a WDIS, so let's put it this way:

Suppose you were just a neutral observer looking at Norwood and Kevin Jones. Which one of these two RBs would you think might have a more productive game this coming week?

Positives

1. He technically started last week.

2. He's producing quite well for the most part when given an opportunity.

3. His head coach is saying he needs to get more touches.

Negatives

1. Despite being the starter, he had fewer carries last week than Dunn (8 to 10)

2. He has not had double-digit carries in any game this season.

3. His head coach has not followed through on past talk to use him more.

This is what I see for Norwood right now. He is a huge gamble but one that could pay off should Petrino finally decide to use him more. I like his schedule the rest of the way quite a bit:

Week 14: vs. New Orleans

Week 15: at Tampa Bay

Week 16: at Arizona

Week 17: vs. Seattle

I don't see a single troublesome matchup remaining for him. The fact the most carries he's ever received in a game has come against New Orleans (13) certainly makes him an inviting sleeper pick for this week in my opinion. I see a lot of potential for Norwood from here on out if he really does get more involved in the offense. But he's also a very risky pick because we're now in Week 14 and he's yet to receive a high number of touches in a game this season.

Based on their ranking, it's clear FBG feels pretty good about him this week and I'd agree. I think he's worth a roll of the dice as a RB3 given the matchup. If he can get 15 touches or more against the Saints and do well, that could be a springboard for him for the remainder of the season. Because of all that, I'd view him as a high-risk/high-upside play going forward.

Honest, somewhat credible, and possibly under the radar...Norwood takes over and never looks back.Signed,A somewhat nervious JN owner w/ a flex spot ready and waiting.

Well, tough call. Almost as tough a call as this guy I know that's struggling at flex between Berrian, Curtis, and Norwood... Seriously. Jones is a decent bet for a TD in a game where Detroit will NEED points. That may push him over the edge for you. As for this guy I know...

:kicksrock: Come on Bobby P. Sprinboard the man. He deserves it!

Gee that's an interesting opinion! As far as your friend goes, if I were him, I'd go with the RB every time; WRs are just too iffy, if you have a starting RB, take him. But of course, that's just me...

This is seriously the worst-disguised WDIS question I have ever seen on this board; come one tims -- you can do a better job of veiling your question...

Because he has receiving skills he is a good play this week. The Saints are actually pretty decent against the running game this year. The Passing game on the other hand really blows.

He will start and go off this week.I dropped him last week.
You think so even after he "started" last week and only got 8 carries?! I wish I could be so confident...
A good bit of  in that post. It would just be typical of my season in that league. I think I'm done trying to predict Petrino after his brilliant go for it on 4th and 7 call inside the 10. I just can't predict that level of stupid.

From RotoWorld:

Falcons coach Bobby Petrino says Jerious Norwood will get more work in the receiving and passing games this week.

Could it finally be? Norwood generated 115 yards of total offense on a mere 11 touches in Week 13 while Warrick Dunn rushed 10 times for 17 yards. Norwood has game-breaking ability, but is still coming off the bench, making him no better than a high-upside flex in fantasy leagues vs. New Orleans.

Petrino has been saying this ALL YEAR long, and i've seen the jump go from 6 to 8 carries. It's a joke. I wish this Monday we finally see Norwood touch the ball 20 times.

The whole Norwood situation would be hilarious if I didn't have him on my team.

His own head coach has been puzzled all year about why he doesn't get more carries.

He's averaging just under 6 carries a game. :banned:

On the other hand, his average line is 6 carries for 37 yards, and my league has a YPC scoring component. :fishing:

In addition, it's a PPR league, and he gets a reasonable number of targets for a backup.

Can someone write it out for Petrino in CAPITAL LETTERS, please?

I expect him to blow up on my bench this week which will suck me into playing him next week and losing. I've been holding him all year waiting for him to get the starting spot. I can trust him but not his coach at this point. I swear Petrino is trying to lose for a better draft spot.

I've also liked the, "We need to get Norwood the ball more." followed by a 4-6 carry game.

Call me nuts but I'm drinking the Norwood kool aid this week and benching KJ & Edge for him. I just see a good opportunity although I've also had him on my bench all season and this is my first week of playoffs. All you skeptics will be sorry this upcoming Monday night!!

Jeebus, don't I know it. I'm getting so tired of this crap from BP. I dropped Norwood last week but even still, I would love to see what he could do with 20 touches Monday night. I can't understand the philosophy of "we don't know if he's an every down back" without actually giving him the opportunity to prove it.

I can buy KJ, but Edge is a better play.

Well, since I have Reggie Bush, M. Lynch and Fred Jackson, I'm plugging in Norwood and keeping my fingers crossed.

I don't know, I have a funny feeling he could have his "break out" game on Monday night.

Boy does that Kook Aid taste good

I'm starting both Norwood AND Redman this week. Crazy? Probably.

Norwood over Curtis and Steve Smith.

Redman over Rivers, Campbell, and Bulger.

Fortune favors the bold, so I'm going with the upside here.

You might actually have to go with Lynch. You never know, but he's going to play and has a tasty matchup, too-

Like others, Im rolling the dice on Norwood this week. Yeah, he's boom or bust, but so is Jacobs (the other option) IMO and I hate LenDale's matchup this week.
