Jacoby Ford ..... (1 Viewer)

For me, it comes to either starting Ford or reaching for someone like Brandon Gibson, Steve Breaston, Danario Alexander or Jason Avant off the WW so I'll gamble on Ford's upside and hope he's more involved than he was last week.
I wish the decision was that easy for me.In one league I'm probably starting Ford over Fitz and Amendola. In another over Harvin and Tampa Mike. In both cases I need a big score to win this week as I'm facing the best team in each league, one of them in the playoffs. My logic is that I'm going with upside over safety. But I'm also traditionally a risk taker when it comes to FF so take what I say with a huge grain of salt. But as I said in another Ford thread a few weeks ago... Sometimes joo gotta hab ballz, meng.

That's where I'm at. In my situation, I think Gibson is the safe play (PPR league) because I think Bradford will have to throw it a ton and Gibson outside of one game has been pretty much a lock for 5-6 receptions a game lately. But there isn't a lot of upside there. Ford has all the upside but comes with plenty of risk. But I need the points so I'll gamble on it.The scary thing is last week I felt much stronger about Danario Alexander's upside and he stunk it up. Hope that doesn't happen with Ford this week too.

I too fell one time, just once for DA. But I am rolling with Ford with confidence this weekend. With Ford, the talent is definitely there. He is going to be a star on the level of a Santana Moss or Steve Smith (CAR). His only drawback is the Raiders will want to run, and Campbell isn't the most consistent QB. But the Jags will give the Raiders all they can handle at home, and I think the Raiders will have to air it out more. Throw in Zach Miller is slowly getting better, but not all the way back.....and someone has to be the #1 target. No one better on this team than Ford right now.Ford is a stud. Start him.

I like some of the confidence on this thread.

I am starting Ford this weekend but only out of desperation. My playoff team is a walking MASH unit (Romo, Gore, Gates, BMW) and I am going up against a strong team. I am rolling with Ford's upside over Derrick Mason and Earl Bennett, fully aware that it could bite me in the ###...but, I need to gamble since my team is weaker on paper than my opponents.

I originally picked up Ford with this week in mind if I made the playoffs. Well I made it and not changing my plans. Hes a talented WR but a rookie so nothings a given but I love starting WR;s VS Hou and Jax. so Ford it is for me. At peace with my choice.

Does the news regarding 25 MPH wind gusts along with cold rain in Jacksonville affect our opinion of Jacoby Ford this week? He is the deep passing threat, right? Might not be much deep passing in this game.

Thoughts?

Reports I've seen are mostly cloudy winds around 19. I haven't seen any reports about rain. But yes if it's raining and windy, I'm looking elsewhere. Any Jax homers have a weather report?

Larger satellite view...looks like it will pass over once the game begins.

JAX Sat
Yeah I'm not seeing anything problematic with the weather based on all the reports I've seen. It doesn't appear to be a problem. I think Campbell is more of a concern than the weather for Ford. He's still locked into my lineup.

I posted in the weather thread too but there seem to be conflicting reports. ESPN is saying 30 mph winds. Weather.com is saying 13 mph.

Any Jacksonville homers with updated info?

I went back. They went to the stadium. Rain stopping and no wind . ( 10 mph) . chance later it could have some guts over 20 but that may or may not happen. So some light rain to start ( that like always has no effect on passing other then slipping DB's and) maybe some wind later in the game .

So right now at the stadium it's light rain and light wind?

Still starting him in 2 leagues, but really have no other options.
It's Ford or Brandon Gibson for me. I'd like to hear a definitive update from Jacksonville because I'm seeing conflicting reports about how bad the wind will be. This sucks.
I'm in the same boat...I'm considering dumping Jacoby for Michael Bush today...http://jacksonville.justweather.com/video/http://jacksonville.justweather.com/video/

What do you think?
If the wind isn't an issue and you need the upside go with Ford. The concern I have with Bush is if he doesn't score a touchdown he may not provide much help.

I'm in a scoring only league, but get extra points depending on the distance of the score.

That weather link has 10 mph wind and very light rain . They show it stopping by 2 pm. They said the winds "could" pick up later. thats not a given.

They just went to the stadium. Light rain. should end by half time. and the wind could pick up in the second half. no wind right now. so atleast half a game (possibly 3/4) with no wind and light rain. Not enough to make me switch.
