JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jaguars defensive end was arrested Sunday night, accused of racing, reckless driving, prohibited use of flashing lights and drug possession.
According to the arrest report, an officer saw Bobby McCray, 25, in a Dodge SUV with flashing blue and white lights speeding south with two other vehicles on state Road 9A at 92 mph. The officer said McCray and another car nearly crashed.
After he was stopped on Town Center Parkway, McCray allegedly told officer he had come across one of his teammates while driving and "was just playing around."
The officer also said he found two prescription pills that police later identified as hydrocodone -- a schedule III narcotic -- and Tylenol. McCray told the officer the Jaguars team physician or trainer gave him the pills after Sunday's game in Houston, but he could not produce a prescription for the medication.
"Regardless of where the pills came from, they were illegal -- he was not allowed to have them," Jacksonville Sheriff's Office spokesman Ken Jefferson said.
The Jaguars drafted McCray, a graduate of the University of Florida, in the seventh round in 2004. According to the Jaguars Web site, he played in all 16 games in 2005 and was credited with 23 tackles and 5.5 sacks.
McCray was booked into jail.
This is the third Jaguars player arrested so far this season
