I've been writing all season how being in sync with Cam means everything and we're still amidst this spring offense and it's pathetic.
Elic has to run a good route and deal with bumps and pushes every single time. He doesn't.
Dike runs the most undisciplined routes.
So Elic was out and (Lockett released, Ridley on IR.....)
They had Van (still covered by opposing top CB) trying and doing all he can which wasn't much. Prosche played some and gave a terrific effort and another veteran in a similar scenario. Here we had two guys running routes the way they're supposed to be run. Maybe slow, maybe not the most talented....doing it the right way though. Prosche caught a bullet many wouldn't have and a pass was way off so he changed direction and dove to catch it while everyone else quit on the play.
Chig played a bit wide and continued to look like he belongs there.
Gunnar, always solid.
That's something to work with. The Titans couldn't run yet again, so they used a short passing offense and Cam unveiled an improved running ability. Cam was under pressure a fair amount and yet looked comfortable and had his best game---- with those targets!
Restrepo was to play last week and there did seem to be some juice that he's playing. He's certainly a fan favorite but the team seems to like it too. Rudy-ish so far, not...calm down.
So in the fourth, Restrepo played and did pretty well for a quarter.
So now what?
Elic returns and I'm fearful of:
Questionable routes by he and Dike and iffy TE play by Chig.
They finally found something
Imo the WR coach and OC and whoever should be working Dike and Elic. Run right or we pull ya. Beat the press or we pull ya. Rinse repeat. I'm getting fearful of bad habits in their rookie year.
I prefer simply and orderly over ugly with maybe a big play maybe a sack. It's even more fun with an underdog vibe and yep Restrepo is a UDFA and Prosche is a career special teamer but oh btw they caught the ball. I'm kind of rooting for Chig too. I think he found his niche.
The Titans should be down their C and LT. They should have capable replacements but the backup C has historically been awful and in game adjustments and sacks allowed increase when he's in. Callahan did NOT sub him in at C last year when Cush got injured. His whole career he was the backup C. I think it's hmmm when the ol ball coach doesn't sub him into his spot.
On defense-
the seahawks were phenomenal at blocking Sweat and Big Jeff. I think they might have a big day. Ya can't hold them down.
As I said to watch for, DC Wilson went into his magic hat and again created a player. Marcus Harris had an 89 grade by PFF and a great game last week. He is easily the most underrated coach in the league.
Kevin Winston looks like a future star. Next step is probably to be making big plays, but the safety can fly, can jump, and is quite the pass rusher.
Baker is very good. He's not elite. I don't know where BTJ is at. Last year, he'd probably be in for a huge game but the way he played this year...idk.
Last week's starting CB (PS earlier in year and summer) was pulled early, cut, and replaced by a failed Bills first rounder. I expect the CB they grabbed off the Packers PS a few weeks back to step into the mix.
Hooker was covering JSN last week and toasted. I haven't read any clarity as to why a safety was covering the top WR but I assume it has to do with inexperienced corners and the benching.
The Jags would surely like to get their licks in here as they're a rival and the Titans are the worst team in the NFL. There should be plenty of opportunity for their success but they had better get to work and not take them for granted. Every team seems to call the Titans a trap game this year. The rivals could surely be guilty of losing their heads and being overconfident. Lawrence's struggles should be enough of a reason to keep in check.
My guess is an ugly offense and a bad loss. They seem determined to overplay the rookies as if they're first round talents.
I wouldn't bet on the simple try hard offense IF they do it. I think they could sneak an upset here and mess up their draft position but...we just gotta do things the hard way this year
