Jake Delhomme could light up the Rams (1 Viewer)

I really like Jake Delhomme to put up some serious numbers against a pretty weak Rams defense opening day.

I could easily see Steve Smith with 150 yards and two td's.

I'm tempted to pick up Delhomme off waivers and plug him in for Kitna. Some people are really high on him but other rankings (like Dodd's) have Delhomme in the middle/bottom half of the pack.

I'm not sure how good the Rams pass defense really is but the FBG newsletter has them penciled in as a tough matchup.

Which Jake will we see? The one a few years ago who could put up big numbers or the more recent one who just isn't all that good. I want to jump on the bandwagon, but I'm still a bit reserved. Your statement doesn't have much substance in it. Basically, all you're saying is "Jake Delhomme is gonna be awesome! So will Steve Smith! Rams stink!"

Jake of a few years ago? He helped make Moose and Smith stars. It was only the year before last that Smith had all those touchdowns and receptions. The year before that it was Moose that was on fire. Delhomme deserves a little credit for that. The dude gets a bad rap. He wasn't even that bad last year, yet people make him out to be Ryan Leaf. Last year he had his best completion percentage, yet he gets blamed for the Panthers going 8-8, and he played behind a terrible line, and he didn't even play in 3 games because of his thumb.

I'm stricly talking fantasy. Last year, Jake was a bad no. 2 fantasy QB. The few years before, he was a decent low end #1.

Unless you are rostering an elite QB I'd consider starting Delhomme this week as well. I read that Steve Smith was excited about this week's gameplan. I doubt that means the Panthers plan on running the ball 40 times and that probably means good things for Delhomme's stat line.

"People will be surprised at what's going to happen Sunday as far as offensively. I was very surprised and excited. Coach (Jeff) Davidson and the offensive staff have done a great job as far as some of the new wrinkles that we have in there. Actually, I was excited about coming in today to see what else we have new."

"I think those guys stayed up `til late the last two nights and you can see that they did some good things and people will be surprised."

This all might be true... if Jake Delhomme didnt suck.

He has been trash ever since the 05 NFC Championship game in Seattle. Stop Steve Smith, you stop the Panthers!

Remember also in that championship game, Panthers were without Foster, who got hurt the game before. So all the Panthers had was Steve Smith, so it was a lot easier to do with zero running game.

Smith and Delhomme are very bad plays this week. Tough to bench Smith, but consider it if possible.Delhomme should not be in anyone's line-up.Delhomme should be about 130 yards passing with 3 picks and Smith will only catch one or two passes for minimal yardage. The new O has not worked, in fact, it is far worse than last year. Rams D is very underrated. This is a perfect storm for failure for Delhomme/Smith.

I have a hard time putting my faith in a QB that only has 1 leggit WR target. With KJ gone, who the hell is occupying the other side of the field opposite Smith? Can we expect that WR2 to take enough pressure off Smith to have a big year? Too many questions yet to be answered.

I agree that I was not impressed with the Panthers offense during the preseason. However, Steve Smith is pretty excited about the gameplan for this week, and says it is nothing like what we saw in the preseason. Of course these words should be taken with a grain of salt, but I am interested to see what happens today. Regardless, Smith is a must start every week, but starting Delhomme is a bit of a risk. 130 with 3 picks is ridiculous though.

H.K. gets off on saying things that will get a rise out of people. He does it every year. It's toolish behavior, but all you have to do is ignore him.
