Jake Delhomme... (1 Viewer)

Yes, we know...

<------IS waiting patiently for Mr. McCoy to get healthy again so that we never have to see that abomination named Delhomme ever again....

He should do the right thing and retire tomorrow morning. I'm 100% serious.

It's sad to watch. Jake used to be such an effective QB and a fiery competitor. Now he's just old with no arm and no legs.

This was evident last season. Hell, the season prior as well.

It's too bad McCoy got hurt. That kid is going to be a player.

I believe Cleveland is a team on the rise, but it would've been nice to let McCoy get some experience down the stretch. They've got their QB of the future, IMO.

Old news has a life span of less than 5 years. Glad to see Carolina has actually regressed from his magnificence.

:goodposting: Really an indictment of Holmgren and Mangini and Fox and Hurney to pay him money and to play him. Disgraceful talent evaluation

Normally I would take offense, but the beauty of these moves have us first place in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes. Maybe that was the plan from Jerry Richardson all along. :goodposting:

Sadly, there were at least 3 QBs that played yesterday that are even worse. Flynn, Croyle, and Skelton. And maybe Orton :goodposting:

Dude Clausen is the worst qb that I have ever seen that was drafted playing in the NFL. The dude is a scared rabbit in the pocket and his mechanics are godawful. Hurney should be shot on site for his 2010 draft.

Will the Panthers definitley take him even with Clausen? I know Clausen is looking horrible but they did just invest a 2nd rounder in him.But maybe I'm just being hopeful they don't take him and the Bills stop winning. I'm a Bills fan and I want them to lose so badly just so we have a chance at Luck. Sure, we can have fun watching Fitzpatrick winning a couple games or we could lose every game and watch Luck take us to a Super Bowl sometime in the next 5-7 years. Luck is that good.

From everything I've heard, Luck is the only option if the Panthers have the 1 seed. With a new coach coming in, it's an opportunity to get a franchise QB.That's the big advantage of Clausen being able to play so much this year. The Panthers have seen what they needed to to determine that he isn't the QB of the future (although I think he's a little bit better than he has looked).Back to the original subject though, yes, Jake Delhomme sucks. His first season with Carolina, he was good because he was simply asked to hand the ball off to Stephen Davis. He was good his second year as well, after playing poorly for the first 8 games and dropping the team to 1-7, he played well. After that, he good moments were always offset by horrendous ones. NO ONE was upset about the team cutting Delhomme, it was all of the other stupid moves they made this offseason that screwed the team over.

taking another QB would make Millen seem smart

When the draft was 15 or 18 rounds teams didn't often take 3 QBs but the Panthers did in 2010's seven round draft. They have the best FCS quarterback ever and he's had like 3 snaps. They lose nothing playing him now. They would be able to know if too small and other sentiments some thought are correct or not. Since he can play QB, WR and probably (3rd down) RB for a play here N there and has even been a DB at times, I'm pretty sure it's in their best interest to let him go and see what they have. He might create an "extra" roster spot for all they know.

IIRC he dropped some punts or kicks this summer. He could have been practicing that and doing that all the time by now.

I am so not alone here. Are you aware there's a large facebook following of folks wanting him to start at QB?

The guy is one of the most exciting players I've ever seen on any level. He has a bigger arm than the other QBs they drafted and... See what he can do!

He's also a relatively local guy that can't hurt with the fan base.

If they own the rights to Luck (essentially with the first) then they should be able to trade that for oh so much. I get it, Luck is the next great. However their team will not be any better if they keep drafting rookie QBs at this rate. They have to make progress at other positions and their horrible coaching this year has pretty much destroyed the trade value Pike and Claussen may have had. Even if you don't like any of the three QBs or Moore (who BTW fans were clamoring for not too long ago) then they can sign a vet for the time being.

A young team a rebuilding team must be smart with their draft picks and make progress.

Steve Smith had wayyyy too much to do with whether they did well or not and he's not the impact player he once was. They need a big time WR.

Their trenches can always get better.

I don't think they use the two RBs well. I think they just use two RBs. Can one net a very large return and can they lean on just one in 2011?

I didn't even mention defense.

They have to have to have to make progress.

here's but one armanti link

Normally I would agree with you but Clausen is beyond horrible. His mechanics and footwork are abysmal. Plus he gets scared in the pocket and his small. After last years debacle of a draft I would say compared to Hurney Millen is a genius. Plus if you have a chance to get a Elway or Manning on your team then you have to do it. The Panthers desperately need someone to fill the seats. Clausen is not doing it and some defensive tackle from Auburn is not going to be as sexy as Luck. They simply have to take Luck. Hopefully the new coach is Harbarough and that makes it easier for luck to come out. I keep hearing that Russ Grimm is the front runner though.

If it was anyone other than Luck then I would agree with everything you said. But Luck is just the best prospect in 20 years and pretty much everyone acknowledges that. You simply do not pass that up. They drafted 2 decent wr's last year and the RT Otah hasnt played all year. In reality on offense they do not need that much all things considered.Armanti Edwards has no business in the NFL. Period. The dude is scared to take a hit and is too small to play qb.

What? DOESN'T JOHN FOX KNOW ABOUT THIS???

I would also include Stanton in your list.
I'm completely dropped the ball. Missed Stanton and Clausen. Amazing how many awful QBs teams are forced to start.
Yup...Clausen is also a member. What was even more frustrating for me watching Stanton, is that I have CJ.

Well it's interesting to me.Enough tweets and radio talk demanding the guy plays and some guy decided that a FB group would be a way to gauge just how many are clamoring for the guy. There's been so many things in sports that I'd love to be able to gauge and...it's fairly interesting IMO

Bottom-line for me is their QB play hasn't been better than Delhomme and they've tried every guy on their roster except the one that won the Walter Payton award, was a heisman finalist.

Have you seen him Dave? These stats are unbelievable for one game

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FQQONgG3Y4

They also drafted him (primarily) to play WR. People were comparing him to Steve Smith very early and yeah, he's short, exciting, has great wiggle and has a great understanding of the game. In TC, he stepped down a notch and showed he's got learning to do at WR. How about now though? The reporters that get to see practice still boast of his athleticism and ...cmon already.

But here we are. They traded up to draft him in the third and barely know how he'd play in a game at WR or QB. Their season is over already, why not play him?

Smith is getting old way too quick(nother thread nother time) and they have squat at WR or QB. Why not see if he is the answer? Why'd they trade up to get him then?

You know the kid on the basketball court in school that you never passed to because he was horrible? They've got three of them and they take turns giving them the ball from center.

well if Luck is the next Manning (or Bradford) then I guess so.

Doesn't change my view on seeing what they've got in Armanti at all.

And they had better call up the Chiefs and tell Weis his boy misses him so much they should make a trade because teams are only afforded one development spot on their roster for a QB. And Claussen or Pike would be gone next summer if not.

They have to sign a veteran to fill in and prepare for Luck to get hurt because that just happens to QBs (We at 63 for this year?) and they can not plan to re-enact 2010 in 2011 once Luck is hurt. Shaun Hill, Troy Smith...who cares just some veteran that isn't a deficiency.

I guess I'm missing the part where people tweeting and talking on the radio are in the position to "demand" anything.
