Jamal Lewis - Trade Him Now (1 Viewer)

I thought he looked pretty good, but obviously you need to have realistic expectations with him. I think he's an average at best #2 RB, but a great #3 RB.

I started him last week with Jacobs hurt (someone beat me to the waiver wire for Ward), and Jamal rewarded me with a victory. He's already been worth the investment of my 5th round draft pick.

If you can get good value for him in a trade then sure...trade him. But he's looked solid so far. I was watching some of the highlights and he looks to have his speed back. Maybe all that pre-season hype about him was fairly accurate?

Good points Warpig. A few thoughts before people run off to trade:1) The last year or so he had the ankle problem and that "being in jail" issue. This year he has had a full training camp and is basically healthy.2) He just turned 28 (i.e. he's basically the same age as Rudi Johnson and LT2 and younger than Travis Henry). Point being - he's not on the decline of his career age-wise.3) The Browns have done one thing right - they've improved their offensive line. This actually serves two functions that benefit Lewis - the most obvious is better blocking for him. The less obvious is it gives their QB more time - which will help in creating at least a modest passing game (assuming they get some respectable QB play)4) They will give him the ball - and he's really the only RB. To this point he has seen over 90% of the rushing touches at RB and 80% of the overall touches at RB. One number that I found interesting was not the 216 (although that was obviously quite good) - it was the 27 attempts. Even with the feeble 11 attempts in week 1, Lewis is still in the top 15 RBs in attempts - which he should stay in most of the year. I'm not saying we can expect another 2,000 yard season out of him like 2003 - but his 2002 numbers are definately in the realm of possibility. That would make him a solid RB2 for the year - not exactly something one woulkd part with easily.

some just offered me jamal lewis for my lee evans. currently mulling it over with my receiver depth and lack of RB2 after jacobs injury

What is his trade value and would you consider trading him for a RB that is in a slump? I have seen offers out there for Bush and Kitna for Lewis? Amazing how things have changed in just 2 weeks.

Lewis faced a tough Pitt D and a sieve Cincy D in the first two weeks. With that said, I think he is going to have a very solid season. He has to face the Ravens two more times and the Steelers once, but he should be able to rack up (if he stays healthy) 1300 yards and 8-12 tds.

And he didn't look slow to me v Cincy. He looked explosive. And he easily ran away from the defense on his long run.

That Cleveland O Line is underrated, and when Thomas and Steinbach get acclimated, it is going to get even better.
