I'm going to go with neither. Until I see him contribute significantly, in a fantasy sense, on a regular basis, I'm going to assume last Sunday was an aberration. With the emergence of James Casey catching balls out of the backfield, who does this affect more? Owen Daniels or RB's Foster/Tate? Possibly niether?
This is part of Kubiak's machine. It's very potent. Texans go 11-5/12-6 and are the offensive machine putting up numbers with NE,NO & GB. Wasn't Wes Welker Broken a year ago?Casey and Scheffler are great pick-ups right now. I know, Pettigrew is a beast, but watch, Scheffler will get his as well. Stafford has to throw the ball for the lions to roar.I"m ading Casey to my team of Schaub, Foster, Walters, Rackers, Texans Defense. All the best,Grab Reggie Bush real quick!I'm going to go with neither. copycat leagueNormally I would say that one week of production is possibly fools gold. But a couple of months ago I think it was one of the Texans coaches that said Casey was one of the best pass catching TE's in the league. Watching the Pats create mismatches with their two athletic TEs, it's possible the Texans are following suit. With AJ deep and Foster and the ground game about to get going again, there is a lot for defenses to handle. Lot of mouths to feed but there serious upside here.
interestingAs a college standout at Rice, Casey played wide receiver, wildcat quarterback, tight end and even defensive end in a pinch. That athleticism and versatility isn’t lost on Kubiak and the offensive coaching staff.
“Obviously, your wheels start spinning because you could be a little bit different offensive football team but yet teach the same schemes and those type of things,” Kubiak said. “James is very athletic. He’s a tight end with great hands, very athletic, smart, can handle a big load. He could give us some flexibility, but right now I want him to settle down, learn the position and we’ll go from there.”
He's also shown himself to be a playmaker. With AJ and BT hurting, they may try to work him into the game plan this week. I would...Casey is a dedicated blocking TE/FB, I see him as a poor man's version of Marcel Reece (OAK)
They definitely will to keep the other team honest, especially if they put eight man in the box. BUT it won't be another "Pearl Harbor".He's also shown himself to be a playmaker. 2nd in the NCAA in receptions in college in 2008 with 111 recs, 1329 yds and 13TDs, sounds more than just a blocker to me.He's also shown himself to be a playmaker. That is an interesting comparison. As with Casey, there are many aspects of Reece's game I truly like: he is a converted WR, and like Casey, Reece is a versatile player with excellent hands. Casey fits the mold of the emerging athletic TEs around the league, and with increased opportunities, he could really emerge here. He is a full-effort guy with good athletic skills, so I look for him to make the most of his chances.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2GlcwpWR9MCasey is a dedicated blocking TE/FB, I see him as a poor man's version of Marcel Reece (OAK)
how do you come to this conclusion? It's almost like you just raised your hand and said I have no idea what I speak of. The guy played like 7 positions in one game. He's the definition of versatile, but his natural position is probably receiving TE. remember when Chris Cooley was listed as a FB his 2nd year?Casey is a dedicated blocking TE/FB, I see him as a poor man's version of Marcel Reece (OAK)

That blurb about Leach being a run blocker has no bearing on Casey. Casey is now playing his position; yes, a fullback blocks; that doesn't mean Casey = Leach.Look who is talkinghow do you come to this conclusion? During the 2005 season, Cooley blossomed as a receiver, catching 71 passes for 774 yards and seven touchdowns, including three in a game versus the rival Dallas Cowboys, breaking the Redskins franchise record for receptions as a tight end.[2] Those three touchdowns ended up actually costing Cooley his fantasy football playoff game, because his opponent had Cooley on his fantasy team.[3] He led all NFC tight ends in fan voting for the annual Pro Bowl with 422,314 votes, but following player and coach voting (each group has 1/3 weight), was not chosen for the position."
"Casey was a fifth-round draft pick by the Texans in 2009 and played tight end in his first two seasons. He bulked up in the off season to take on the fullback role, and when All-Pro Vonta Leach signed with Baltimore, Casey moved into the starting role."
"Vonta Leach
Team:
Houston Texans
Position:
Fullback
Fundamental:
Run Blocking
Run blocking for the All-Fundamentals Team is fullback Vonta Leach of the Houston Texans. He consistently executes proper blocks from the backfield. Leach fires out toward the defender attempting to block him from the inside-out while keeping his head up and staying low."
Not to mention the Colts management....The team also added FB Lawrence Vickers in the off-season, so it's not like Casey is the only viable FB eitherSo players automatically take on the qualities of the players they replace in the starting lineup? Someone forgot to tell Kerry Collins that.
