I was so high on this guy and thought he would become a solid NFL WR. Can someone that follows the Bills situation fill me in on what went wrong? If I recall correctly he was injured last year. Is there hope he develops into a good player? What does the future hold for him?

Very raw prospect coming into the league, lacks toughness, I think he held out, when he finally started seeing the field in 08 he blew out his knee killing the rest of 08 and his 09 offseason, once practicing again midseason 09 he did not impress.

I think the new regime gives him this offseason to prove himself, if he does then he gets a shot, if he doesn't then he's relegated to red zone duty only while Steve Johnson takes the #2 role in the near term and they develop Marcus Easley.

they drafted him because he was really, really talltoo bad he has no other attributes to be a successful WR in the NFLlike route running, remembering the plays, fighting for the ball, getting off the line of scrimmage, getting separation, blitz recognition and hot reads, actually being able to catch the ball, etcand now he has bad knees

He was a project when he was drafted. He wasn't going to contribute his first year or two anyway, at least not in any meaningful way, though he could have been a strong red zone threat. I don't think the door has quite closed on him yet, but this is probably the year he'll have to step up and show something.

Hardy excelled in college because he's a physical freak, but he didn't have to run NFL routes or deal w/ press coverage. He showed some flashes early in his rookie year, but played sparingly because he couldn't learn the playbook. He ran the wrong route on numerous occasions & blew plenty of assignments. He became basically a goal-line & short yardage package specialist. He then tore his ACL & missed the rest of the season.

He started year 2 on the PUP list. The presence of TO kept Hardy from playing any significant role after he was eligible to play. He supposedly became TO's protege during camp & throughout the season. Hopefully he learned a lot about playing WR at the NFL level. I'd give Hardy the best chance of winning the WR2 job this year, as Steve Johnson is better suited for the Slot WR spot.

To be fair to Hardy, he tore up his knee. Takes at least a year to come back from that type of injury, ordinarily.

:goodposting: This is a good summary of his career so far. In addition to the ACL injury, he was also involved in an off-field incident shortly after being drafted - he allegedly threatened his own father with a handgun during an altercation. The police declined to investigate the incident further and it was all quickly forgotten.

Personally, I think he looks like a :tfp:

I have him in 2 leagues (owners cut him midseason last year), one cut down date is mid August, the other is in a month. I feel comfortable making a decision one way or the other in August, but not the one at the end of this month. It's very possible he pieces it all together this offseason, I don't really want to miss that.
