James Jones offensive ROY (1 Viewer)

James Jones reminds me of Anquan Boldin, not overly fast, but very strong with great hands. He's a great target in the redzone and he seems to already have Favre's trust. If Donald Driver's injury is anything serious, Jones can make a huge impact as the Packers #2 receiver.

Is this the same James Jones that tonight in the 1st quarter pulled up his route on a short slant over the middle because he didn't want to get hit?

Picked him up in the 1st quarter and Jennings before the game in a 12 team scratch league and in a 14 team keeper league last week. First time I have seem him on tv and he looks like a huge target!

Here we go. Driver gets dinged and now Jones is in the HOF. Rookie wide receivers rarely are viable fantasy starters in their first year. Let's see if Driver is out for the season before we start anointing Jones as the second coming of Colston or Moss people.

I don't know about that, but his hands have been sick from what I've seen and Favre seems to look to him more than Jennings.

Yes. Also the same Jones that had the ball lose and got it poked away for a turnover after a nice gain.Still like him as a dynasty guy and the Driver injury adds some intrigue.

I like the other (Jacoby) Jones to be a strong candidate. Wish I had drafted him rather than Kenny IRons.

Nobody said he was going to be a HOF. Yes it's only preseason, but the kid has looked good since the 1st day of training camp and is progressing into a solid dynasty prospect. What's wrong with a little excitement for those of us that did our homework on this kid. And it was pretty eveident at least the last 2 games that Farve is trying to get some chemistry with him. He's looking at him more than Jennings. He's a rookie and is going to make mistakes but from the reports I've been reading he's a smart kid and works hard. It doesn't hurt that he has a HOF qb who's throwing to him.

you mean the #1 . . . Jennings stinks . . .

Odd that the 49ers would miss on a guy that plays 10 minutes away from their headquarters when WR a deep need. Sounds like he will make some noise in packer land

Not that anyone gives a rats a-r-s-e, but I have him 5 of 6 dynasty leagues :hot: :hot:

Actually about 20 minutes, but who's counting?!? The scouts rated Jones an early 2nd day pick, so most folks considered it a big reach by GB when he was taken in the 3rd. SJSU falls way under the radar and plays 3rd fiddle to Stanfurd and Cal, so it's not surprising. Last year, SJSU won the New Mexico Bowl, and this year, their shutdown CB Dwight Lowery (IDP alert) and high-motor LB Matt Castelo are returning, so SJSU won't sneak up on anyone this year.Back to Jones -- simply put, the guy makes plays. He knows how to read the D, runs very good routes, gets good separation, competes for the ball, and has hands of glue. Not Galloway fast and occasionally (and frustratingly) drops an easy one, but otherwise is very reliable and good in the open field. Comparisons to Boldin are warranted, although Jones has a faster timed speed. Jones was also voted the SJSU 2006 MVP, which is saying a lot when you consider Lowery led the nation in INTs and was SJSU's 1st-team All American in 30 years. Driver's injury simply gives Jones the opportunity he needs and I know he'll take advantage of it, but I don't see ROY in a year with Peterson, Lynch, and Calvin making splashes. This is unfortunately a bummer for me cause now it's unlikely Jones falls to me in my dynasty draft with 8 SJSU alums....

CRAP! Dynasty draft is tomorrow morning! Why couldn't they have scheduled the GB-JAX game for tomorrow night? That way Jones would still be flying under the radar!

CRAP!

:lmao: :lmao: :hot:
