Jason Campbell Out Maybe This Guy Comes IN (1 Viewer)

Carson Palmer, QB CIN

News: Yahoo Sports reports the Raiders have inquired to the Bengals about QB Carson Palmer after their starter -- Jason Campbell -- suffered a broken collarbone on Sunday. Earlier in the week, Cincinnati owner Mike Brown said that the team has no plans to trade Palmer before Tuesday's deadline.

Analysis: The report said that the Raiders are "trying hard" to acquire Palmer but the Bengals have been steadfast in their motto that if Palmer plays football again, it will be for the Bengals. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on the situation going forward to see if the two teams can strike a deal. If Palmer indeed heads west to Oakland, he will still likely be nothing more than a No. 2 Fantasy QB most weeks

I don't see it. I see them talking up the Bengals to try to make a trade for Palmer but no bite. Trent Edwards is likely to get the call when that fails as he knows the system and team.

On the other side, the Raiders will not be interested in committing to Garrad and supposedly that is what he wants from a team to sign up with them. The Raiders have their QB for now (Campbell) and their future QB (Pryor).

According to FOX Sports' Jay Glazer, free agent David Garrard needs "immediate" surgery on a herniated disc in his troublesome back.In the words of Glazer, "take one name out of (the) search for (a quarterback)." The announcement goes a long way toward explaining Garrard's recent coyness about a possible return. It also puts extra pressure on the Raiders to make a trade to upgrade Kyle Boller ahead of Tuesday's deadline, as Garrard was easily the most attractive free agent candidate. Garrard should no longer be expected to take the field this season, making it quite possible he's played his final NFL down at the age of 33.

I'm not saying this would be a good move but maybe the Vikings would trade McNabb and move on to Ponder. McNabb would be a cheap veteran at this point I would think.

or convince him to trade Gradkowski back
I think this would be a solid move, except that Gradkowski can't stay healthy himself, which would put the Raiders back at sqaure 1.

That is amazingly odd timing. David reportedly wants to play, is working out and waiting on the right situation. Then when a pretty good situation presents itself he has a back injury that requires surgery.

You can debate whether or not Pryor will be a worthwhile QB but that is not my point. My point is that they have invested in him to be that future QB. They are not going to walk away from that in order to sign Garrard.

I had no idea the Vikings were in need of a ham sandwich. Or that the Raiders would send them one for that matter.

Oakland actually has a chance to make the playoffs, why would they want to jeopardize their chances with McNabb?

All you need to know about this scenario is that Al Davis didn't want McNabb when he was alive.

When I first read this, I assumed you were referring to McNabb as the one has had passed... and oddly, it made sense given his play as of late.

Bengals won't trade Palmer, Garrard is out with surgery, and Edwards doesn't want to go back to Oakland. That leaves them with Orton and a bunch of nobodies they've called so far. As for Terrelle Pryor, this is what he had to say, make your own judgements on how ready he is.

Pryor said he could run the offense if Jackson gives him the Readers' Digest Condensed Version of the playbook."I mean, that's a big package," Pryor said of the playbook. "I only had two days of practice; that'd be an awful lot (to expect to absorb), but if it was cut down, of course."Pryor has been in offensive meetings, but he said, "Going in the classroom and being on the field is two completely different things, you know. ... I'm just trying to get the grip down on calling the plays fully ..."
