Javon Walker (1 Viewer)

Not Allowed In Mexico
Hey Doods, just a heads up... (hold the laughter.)

With the last boring week of preseason approaching, one thing I'm interested in catching is Javon Walker's first action since his 'miracle procedure'. Currently listed as 4th on the depth chart and Schillens out for the game, Cable confirmed that Walker would start opposite Heyward-Bey if Murphy is unable to play.

Thursday night on NFLN @ 10PM EST - Seahawks v. Raiders

Thus far I've heard beat writers, personal Raiders sources and John Clayton all mentioned his vast improvement this offseason. Supposedly Javon flew to Europe to get an experimental surgery done on the knee that killed his career back in Green Bay.

Javon Walker:

"It’s something new … it’s going to be something amazing that’s going to benefit and help a lot of athletes"
John Clayton:
"He looks fabulous ...(Javon) had a miracle procedure he found ...he went into extreme means to get that knee right."
John Clayton videoMiracle procedure? Or last ditch effort to make us believe he has something left?

Either way, it's fodder to make NFL Preseason week 5 a little less un-interesting. ;)

Cable didn't name him a playmaker, nor have I heard ANYTHING on him in camp...I'll pass.
I have. I've heard he's moving around fluidly, jumping without pain and he's looked better than he has in years. You must have your hearing aid turned off. :own3d: He didn't catch anything last week, I hope to see him in a game this week.

If the guy's heart is really into making yet another comeback, I have no doubt he'll be relevant in some regard. He's come back from other knee problems and at one point was considered an immense talent.

Can you post some links about Walker? I've browsed the Raiders thread throughout the offseason and haven't seen him talked up in there...

Walker is fine, and healthy for now. Too many injuries, not to mention the question of has he recovered from the Vegas beatdown, the Vince Young-like retirement depression. The man has issues...And then add that Raiders new center Samson Satele who was supposed to replace Jake Grove is really struggling, could lose his job to a journeyman. Then the LT "Super Mario" and his fast food habits, and you have a line that is going to get Jamarcus killed, and all Oakland weapons virtually worthless. The worst run D in the league is going to ensure the Raiders pass-pass-pass. The only guy to see on this squad is Zach Miller, playing from behind. Someone has to catch the passes. The line wont let JRuss have time to go downfield. Garcia has a wet noodle for an arm, and anyway you slice it, the catches are going to the TE or RBs.As you can see, I am really bummed about being a Raider fan, can't help it...Raider loyalty is a life sentence.

Demanding a trade from Green Bay is what killed his career there. And as a Green Bay fan, I recently read about a miracle acupuncture treatment (really) that cured Justin Harrell's constantly injured back. Of course he soon injured his back again, so.

Coach Tom Cable indicated Tuesday that Javon Walker has passed Johnnie Lee Higgins to be Oakland's No. 3 receiver in Week 1.
Indicated how?Generally I'll things at face value but with Javon related items I'm willing but a massive skeptic.
That quote is not aiming at Javon at all. Looks like Higgins is in the doghouse, so he loses his spot... not so much Javon is taking it. I do think it all shakes out as Javon is the Z receiver, and Heywood Bey is the X. Higgins is the slot. Murphy will switch it up with Heywood Bey, get some snaps. Even if Walker is the #1, (which I think he is) what does that mean in FF? There will be maybe 15 completed passes per game. Figure 6-7 going to Miller, another 5 going to McFadden/Fargas, and the WR's combined get 3-4 grabs and at TD every third game. Really better looking at other options.Disclaimer: I drafted Javon, thinking my inside info was gold, but I am turning him loose to the waivers for the flavor defense of the week.

Would be interesting if he got his career back on track.

Lost a bunch of time due to injuries and not being the brightest guy.

But when healthy was a very good WR.

I don't think anyone should waste a draft pick on him, he should remain available in 99.9% of leagues unless its 16 teams or Oakland homers, if he is drafted he will likely be on the waivers after 1-2 games anyway. Although it's a very, very minute chance there is potential nonetheless. Everyone is laughing at Oakland but who knows if they will pull it together and have relevance at some point. Again, very small chances but I would not completely disregard the situation.
