So i'm assuming Suh is playing the 1 and Williams the 3 then?
was thinking the same thing aboot you. from your posts, i'm quickly coming to realize you are a football genius. thank you for even acknowledging me. it makes me feel alive.Thank you for your great contribution to the SP.....can't wait until your next knowledge dropi was just using "3 int's" as a random number to prove my point that he sucked bad last year.and if he continues his current style of play, he'll set the single season record for int's.and,in a martz O, that might help make this attainable.![]()
if you want to make the board better you can stop spamming it with your nonsense.take a couple midol and put a cork in it.Thank you for your great contribution to the SP.....can't wait until your next knowledge dropi was just using "3 int's" as a random number to prove my point that he sucked bad last year.and if he continues his current style of play, he'll set the single season record for int's.and,in a martz O, that might help make this attainable.![]()
Contrary to popular belief, it is very difficult to rip a human head off of its body.Fortunately for all of the posters, the debate will be settled once and for all during the week 1 game versus Detroit. What is the over/under line on how long it is going to take for Suh to rip Cutler's head completely off? That guy is a BEAST! It is amazing what the Lions are doing to turn that team around.
What turn around??? They have two combined wins in the past two seasons. If you're from the future please let me know what happens in week 1 and for the season. Until then....Lions fans year after year after year...will think they have a turnaround(see: Charles Rogers, Mike Williams, Calvin Johnson, Roy Williams, Kevin Jones, Kevin Smith, Jahvid Best, Joey Harrington, Mathew Stafford). I'm not against Detroit....I just think it will take 3 years to turn into a playoff team and not over nite.Fortunately for all of the posters, the debate will be settled once and for all during the week 1 game versus Detroit. Your post makes people want to ipunch you in the face. Please get a clue.Fantasy owners were frustrated with Cutler last year cuz they drafted him so high, thats not the case this year. I grabbed him in round 9, and have Andre Johnson, Miles Austin, Roddy White, Jahvid Best, Arian Foster, Marion Barber and Jason Witten surrounding him, plus I got Stafford as a backup.I'm not too worried, its all upside for me.

3rd QB? Unless you're in an 8 teamer, you're probably hurting your value elsewhere. I took him as my #1 QB in round 9 and am excited for the upside. I took Ryan a round later for insurance.I don't think anyone is saying he should be drafted as the 5th, or even 10th QB in your draft. I think people are saying that he should be the 20-25th QB taken who has top 10 potential. At least that's what I'm saying. I took the Dodds "Perfect Draft" approach in my main league and landed Cutler in round 13 as my 3rd QB (behind Eli and Stafford). He may not be a top 10 when its all said and done, but at that price, and with the Martz factor, I got great value and a lotto ticket.
12-teamer, mandatory 3 QB's at draft. At the time I had my starting roster filled out besides PK, with depth at RB and WR. Since I had to take 3 QB's, why not swing for the fences at a position where I didn't have strength.I also took him before many had their 2nd QB, including teams whose only QB at the time was Favre or Kolb or Flacco or Ryan. I think Cutlercould outperform all of them.3rd QB? Unless you're in an 8 teamer, you're probably hurting your value elsewhere. I took him as my #1 QB in round 9 and am excited for the upside. I'm not a Jay Cutler fan or owner, but the guy finished as QB11 throwing 26 ints last year. QB 20-25 in '10? Really?I don't think anyone is saying he should be drafted as the 5th, or even 10th QB in your draft. I think people are saying that he should be the 20-25th QB taken who has top 10 potential. 20-25th QB taken? What? His ADP is QB8 to QB15 on every major source of ADP data available, not to mention the fact that all FBG rankings have him rated far higher than 20-25. If you suggest he should be the 20-25th QB taken, then you are suggesting that he should be picked in the same range as guys like Mark Sanchez, David Garrard, and Jason Campbell. You would be suggesting that guys like Palmer, McNabb, Henne, and Young should be picked before Cutler. Is that really what you (and others, you claim) are suggesting here? Also, it seems like you're saying that this is somehow in line with what Dodds is advocating in his Perfect Draft articles? I don't see anything in those articles to suggest that Dodds thinks Cutler is a QB3 or commonly available after 20 QBs are off the board, or anything else that matches up with your take on Cutler. In fact (without giving too much of the article away), it seems more like Dodds is suggesting that he might be a good guy to get after the first 9-10 QBs go off the board, where he would represent very good value. Is this just some kind of bizarre, thinly veiled brag post? Either that, or you're just sharing with us some information about your league from the bizarro world that does not apply to the rest of us humans. It doesn't make sense to me at all.I don't think anyone is saying he should be drafted as the 5th, or even 10th QB in your draft. He's getting hit constantly and he still looks very good. Former offensive coordinator Ron Turner was miserable at his job and cost Cutler a year of his NFL career. Now that the Bears have an actual NFL quality OC in Martz, Cutler should resume his career about where he left off in Denver, which is to say that he is on his way to becoming a borderline elite QB in the NFL. He still has a bit of a propensity for forcing it when he shouldn't (quite similar to Favre, to be honest), but he has a hell of an arm, and when he is provided time, he will pick you apart. I don't think what we're seeing right now is a mirage at all.And just to clarify: My comments about the "Martz Effect" have less to do with the thinking that Martz is some kind of genius and more to do with the fact that the guy he replaced was terrible. Ron Turner should never be calling plays in the NFL again. The situational play calling was so asinine, and the offense never seemed to be on the same page. Last year, the WRs seemed to never know what route to run, and Cutler seemed pissed about play calling frequently. This year, though, somehow, despite Martz supposedly having an absurdly complicated offense, the Bears offense has looked fairly polished through two games. The OL blows, but... that's another issue entirely.I can also say that the local beat reporters in Chicago have been talking all offseason about how Martz and Cutler are practically making out with each other on the practice field every day. Every time they have a mic in front of them, they can't stop raving about the other guy. Martz keeps telling people about how he's such a great guy, loves spending time with him, wonderful sense of humor, etc. It's pretty weird, frankly, but you know these guys are going to be on the same page and there will be little tension between them, which I view as a positive thing for the purposes of FF production. After two games, do we see anything to make us move one way ro another? I have been really happy with his numbers, but if homers can weigh in it would mean much more. Does he look as good as the numbers show? Have the teams he played been poor or a combo of both? Thoughts?

It's no secret that Omiyale is not a fan favorite in Chicago but what he did at left tackle against Ware after Chris Williams got injured was nothing short of spectacular. If he's the real deal at that position this is a different team. I'm probably more excited about this upcoming game against the Packers than I have been in a long time. If they end up winning, and they have a pretty good shot, how can they not be considered one of the front runners in the NFC? Who's better than them if they show they can beat the Packers?Your Mom said:He looks as good as his numbers. The only concern is the O-Line getting him killed. He gets hit alot.Martz seemed to go to more 3 step drops which really helped Cutler stay alive.
I feel pretty good about my assessment, but he's clearly outplayed the early season struggles I expected for this offense. If he stays healthy, he will probably throw for 4,000 yards in the Martz offense. Obviously, the INT's are a real concern. Even if the offense performs well, he's still probably going to toss at least 15-17 INT, and if things go bad, he'll probably be back into the 20's.As for the offensive line, it's a major concern - probably the biggest area of concern on the team. Chris Williams has been bad in the games, but I still am less worried about him than other postions on that line. That may not be saying much for Williams though. This is a timing offense - Cutler throws to a spot, and the WR's have to make good cuts to the ball. So far, they've had issues, and we could see this continue into the season.Ranking Cutler 8 does seem high to start the season. Why is Jay rated as the #8 QB by the FBG experts and other projection sites. He has a 2nd year Left Tackle that has not been able to block an average Defensive end much less the the quality of ends he will face this season as the bears face the NFC and AFC east this year as well as the vikings, Packers and Lions 2X.He has an unproven set of WR's. A new system with Mike Martz and throws a ton of picks.. He sports a losing carrer record. The Bears look totally confused with the new Martz system but Martz praises Cutler for his arm and his intlligence as a QB!?!Yet, with that said; Based on the experts, I was offered and am considering a trade giving my 1st round 7th pick rookie draft to get him. My QBs are Gerrard, Campbell and M. MooreWith my pick i was looking to get Bradford or or TE A. Hernandez (Patriots)Is Cutler a real top 10 QB? I don't see it. Maybe being from Chicago fan I am just to negative on him.
I'm also a big Cutler fan and kind of thought the same thing, that he'd be up and down this year. Traded him in my dynasty league and regretting it. The game in Dallas was a stout test and he performed very well. There's so much dross at quarterback across the league--Cutler is in the small number of guys both young and capable of putting up big numbers. It is no secret that I have been a big Cutler fan for years, ever since he came into the league, and was bummed when McDaniels drove him out of Denver, but I was not high on him this year simply because I thought that it was gonna be a down year for the Bears and that they didn't have the WRs for Mike Martz's system to work well, but, man, I was wrong. Cutler looks terrific thus far this year, and is showing why so many of us have been high on him for years. I am just bummed that I avoided all Bears in every draft I did. Oh well.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves too far. The Bears offense, and Cutler in particular, are living up (and exceeding to some degree) what we thought they would be able to do some of the time. But don't mistake this for the Colts or the Saints offense- they may feast on some teams but they will turn the ball over and not protect Cutler in other games and put up really sucky fantasy numbers on occasion. This is still the same team that tried to hand a game to the Lions at home, and the same Jay Cutler that threw a pick against triple coverage. He is not going to finish the season with 8 ints, so there will be games that he throws 2 and 3 picks. For that matter they will start playing teams that don't look like they are trying desperately to lose.
That being said- the Bears did what they needed to out of the gate to remain relevant for the season, so self-destruction and the wheels completely coming off the franchise seems unlikely (which is something I worried about, and if that Megatron TD is allowed could well have been the path they were going down). Better yet the schedule seems a lot less scary than it did before the season- but still keep that playoff schedule of NE, at MN, and Jets in mind. Hate to pin your superbowl on Cutler vs the Jets defense in Chicago in December. Cutler could be a sell high candidate if you have viable a alternative.
Martz's has always improved scoring and passing yardage everywhere he has gone, but he hasn't had a QB of Cutler's caliber in quite some time. With Jay's strong and accurate arm, I really don't see too many down weeks in terms of passing yardage. I know it's early, but I expect a top 5 finish from Cutler in 2010, if he doesn't get killed behind that line (good thing he's big and very mobile).Speaking of which, the Bears' o-line just can't run block, but Forte/Chester are both great receiving options out of the backfield. Combine them with a good pass catching TE in Olsen, and competent speedy WRs (although none are ELITE), and I think the Bears will be racking up a ton of passing yards win/lose/or draw, and often times even using short passes in lieu of a running game. That insulates Cutler owners a bit against high turnover games.Let's not get ahead of ourselves too far. FYP.Anyone who watched the game can verify something that Cutler did not once, but twice:Martz's has always improved scoring and passing yardage everywhere he has gone, but he hasn't had a QB of Cutler's caliber in quite some time. However, I do agree with you that Cutler will still have some bad turnover games (heck he fumbled and threw an INT in week 1), and also regarding concerns over the difficult fantasy playoff schedule.
As a Bears fan, I really hope Mike Tice can work some magic with that oline. If he and Martz can turn them into a respectable unit, the Packers would no longer be a sure thing to win the NFC North.
