Jay Feely cut by the Dolphins (1 Viewer)

Liquid Tension

This was a surprise move as Feely was excellent last year. Including his last 10 kicks with the Giants in 06, Jay has connected on 31 of his last 33 FG's!

9 of those were successful from 40-49 and another was a 53 yarder.

The Giants should look to bring him back...he is also a good tackler.

I am sure other teams could use him as well, even if kickers do run in streaks.

Thanks Liquid. He hasn't been healthy though and Carpenter has been great in camp. Carpenter will maybe be under the radar for some owners and be a super cheap kicker for you guys that like to wait till the last pick.J

Miami isn't exactly a hard place to kick. I can't think of many that got cut there and played elsewhere...anyone?

Olindo Mare went to the Saints, and if I am not mistaken Stojanovich went to the Cheifs.I wouldn't mind seeing the Broncos bring him in to compete with Prater. He did go 21/23 last year.

that's only two in what 20 years? plus in one calendar year, Mare was replaced with Gramatica(due to injury) and is now fighting a losing battle with a rook in Seattle isn't he?Sure sounds like the Fins made the right call on him

The Dolphins haven't had a lot of kickers play for them, so I don't see why there'd be a lot of ex-Dolphins kickers around the league in recent years, right?

How many times are the Dolphins going to get into FG range? Feely was 28th in pts. last year and most of the guys below him missed games.

I grew up with the Feely family, and they are all great people. Sucks to hear this, but i am sure he can make a roster somewhere else.

it was a salary move all-together and was rumored for weeks....Now that pennington signed that contract, writing was on the wall to keep the cheap/younger kicker with a good leg............

I thought Mare went to Seattle.

I would be surprised if the kicker would give them any cap issues? When a kicker goes 31 of his last 33 it is very odd to cut him. Obviously, he is not a Parcells guy for some reason? Kickers are notoriously streaky and guys like Mare (who used to be one of the most accurate kickers in the league started to lose it and left the Dolphins). As for kicking in Miami, I am not sure if it is easier or harder, but grass and rain would seem tougher than a dome and not as tough in windy areas.

Parcells doesn't like players who speak their mind, generally, and a loquacious kicker is about the bottom of the barrel. I think he was doomed no matter what the rookie kicker did.

Every primary kicker Miami has had in the past 20 years up until now has gone on from Miami to play elsewhere. It's Reveiz to Stoyanovich to Nedney to Mare. If Feely doesn't go elsewhere, he'll be the one to break the pattern.
