Oh, Magglio and Drew have nearly identical OPS+ numbers for their career, 129 to 128. :ptts:
 Mags has 1700 more at bats or about 6 full JD Drew seasons. Call me back when Drew gets to 5300 at bats.
No one is arguing that Drew has not had health issues. The question is if he will have those same issues in the future. I think he will be fine...

You need to get beyond the BA/HR/RBI stats. Yes, hitting HRs and knocking guys in is a good thing.
:lmao: If you are a Sabermetric fan or not HRs and RBIs are important statistics. This is why people don't like Red Sox fans. JD Drew is not a great player, he's not even close. Also Moops>I said this before, Drew was below average in the field this year. Use your baseball reference dot com link you tried to make a funny with a few days ago.
Did I not say hitting HRs and driving guys in are good things? You can't compare two guys who have different skill sets and say...hey, this guy sucks because he doesn't hit home runs. Drew is not a home run hitter. He has above average slugging ability, but he has never been a guy who hits tons of home runs.Unless you think that only high slugging guys have value, I dont know how you cant come to the conclusion that Drew is a very good ballplayer. He has had health issues, and he had a bad year this year. If you think that either of those 2 things will continue (and they very well may), then we will all have to reevaluate. But a guy who consistently gets on base 40% of the time, and played excellent defense (haven't seen UZR for this year, but other stats say that he was average in the field This year) has tremendous value. It is not 14 million dollars of value...but it is closer to that number than to replacement level numbers. And I wasn't making, as you put it "a funny" with the baseball reference link. Someone stated that Drew seemed to hit an inordinate amount of his HRs when his team was either ahead or behind by>4 runs. That wasn't the case. Immediately afyerwards I posted how horrific Drew has been against the Yankees in his career. I am still in awe at the amount of info available on baseball reference.Anyway... here's to hoping that it was all just a down year for him, and not what appears to be a downward trend. :goodposting:
