Jeb Bush to be NFL Commish? (1 Viewer)

He's qualified exactly how?

PS -- I like one of the other links too - the one that suggests Condelezza Rice as commish.

I know FOX has a right slant --and I'm OK with that -- but isn't this a little ridiculous?

What's next -- Rush Limbaugh on ESPN?

Oh wait a minute....

Do you think the NFL will go to war with the MSL?

ANYBODY with NO football experience is bad!!! You need a football guy (or girl) to run a football league. A Bush running anything is bad, except for Reggie and Steve.

"Flattered" Jeb Bush says thanks, but no thanks, to NFL

Associated Press

5/24/2006

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Gov. Jeb Bush is getting tired of people trying to plan his life after he leaves office in January.

First, his brother, the president, hinted Bush should consider his own run for the Oval Office in 2008.

And now comes the National Football League, which had an emissary gauge his interest in replacing commissioner Paul Tagliabue, who is retiring in July.

To both, Bush's response was thanks, but no.

"I'm flattered," Bush said Wednesday of the NFL's interest, "but I'm governor of the state of Florida and I intend to be governor until I leave -- which is January 2007. And I'm not going to consider any other options other than being governor until I finish."

He doesn't believe NFL officials will hold the position open until then.

No matter the buzz -- including whispers about a run for U.S. Senate and the GOP's vice presidential nomination in 2008 -- Bush says he's focused on simply finishing his second term.

"I swore to uphold the laws of this state and I interpreted that a little broader, perhaps, to mean also that I was going to work 24-7, that I was going to finish strong," Bush said. "And so a day doesn't go by where someone doesn't have a great idea for what my life looks like in 2007 and beyond and I'm not entertaining any discussion about it."

Great We have One Bush ruining our country now they want another Bush to ruin the countries best sport

There was always talk of Sen. George Mitchell for MLB commish, too.

Jeb won't do it. He's a presumptive challenger for the GOP nomination in '08. He'll start fundrasing once he leaves office in '07 to set up the primaries the next year.

Anyone know the office fax number for the company doing the search? I'd like to fax a resume. I always fax in a resume for every head coaching job in the NFL, citing my Madden stats.

Never got a call back, though.

glad to know that you fantasy footballers aren't among the stupid 30%
Oh cmon there are a lot more liberals in the audience than that

GDB considering a politician regardless of the whole red/blue gibberish. :X Can we PLEASE get someone who undestands/cares at least a little bit about the sport?

The recruiting firm they are using is Korn Ferry. They are a national organization, but I would Google them and get the fax for their NY office (probably where the search is based out of). As a head hunter myself, I would encourage you to stress not only you Madden coaching, but also dynasty skills and you ability to get along with others on the Innernet. Finally, do not forgrt to embelish your resume as much as possible.

I'd be all for Steve Largent for Commish. They want political prowess and football acumen, well he has it.

I can see Jeb working out real well as commish.

Mandatory player prayer before each quarter.

Players can carry guns.

Executions for penalties.

Recounts of the final score.
