Free agent Jeff George said on the NFL Network Thursday that he's still interested in playing football.

I saw him the other day and we actually had a conversation.

Jeff: How ya doing?

Me: Filler up

Jeff: You got it sir!

A team like the Vikings could actually use George. Tarvaris Jackson and Brooks Bollinger? Please.

If you saw the episode, you saw him easily hitting the guys standing on the 3rd floor parking garage from about 60 yards out. Guy still has a world class arm.

He would absolutely be a help to a team like Oakland that needs an older guy to help a rookie along. And he can still play.

For news that has fantasy relevance, he thought Moss would excel in New England. Says he's the best WR he's ever thrown to.

I've been saying that since the trade.

I played HS football with JG. We didn't really get along. It had already gotten to his head by then. So, he got paid, but also got what he deserved!

As for what Joe says, if you ever watched him throw a ball, he was amazing! Easily throws a better deep ball than Manning, and I watch him every game.

My guess is he would be an asset as this point in time in Oak. or Atl. But, we'll never know for his space between the ears has ruined his chances.

Nursing home admin: "No, don't let Mr. George out of the facility!"

Jeff George makes a break for it, thinking back to the days that he was shedding tackles and lighting it up. He then falls flat on his face, is grabbed by employees, and hauled back to his room, kicking and screaming about how some team needs him again...

He might help in the sense that he would be a better performer than any of their other QB options, but I disagree that he would help in the mentoring sense. I've never seen anything from JG to lead me believe his presence would be beneficial to a young QB.No argument he has a great arm, though.

Hey Joe. I have no doubt that he still has a world class arm. I don't think it has ever been about his arm strength. It's about everything else that goes into being a QB and a teammate. I can't see how his presence and work ethic and inability to get along with management or coaches can be of any help to a young team trying to claw its way back to respectability.

What those last 2 guys said. Joe don't post when yer on meds :banned: Really tho, asking George to mentor someone is kinda like telling Rush Limbaugh to run the Democratic Convention.

Aren't older QBs more valuable in that scenario when they can impart good work habits, leadership skills, responsibility, and general veteran guidance for the rookies? George doesn't jump out as a great, or even average, mentor. How do rookies learn/develop by watching him show off his arm in practice?

when will people realize that being a successful qb in the nfl is so much more than having a cannon arm.

so jeff george throws deeper interceptions.

Wait. Are we talking about JG or Favre here?

Hi Silver and Black,That's pretty much what I'd expect the Raiders to think as well. But it would be interesting I think for the Raiders to add a veteran like George. You're probably right though - I doubt it would happen.J

I think he'd be a much better fit as a backup to high powered offense like INDY or CIN where those teams would be screwed by an injury causing their dynamic offenses to go vanilla. As a backup for a star QB the team doesn't look to him for any leadership... just make the throws in an emergency when called upon and sit quietly on the bench. Those QB's should also be in their prime for the next several years so there's really no need to start grooming a young replacement either.

 Joe, for the first time ever I'm questioning your good sense.
