Jennings - time to buy low? (1 Viewer)

For me, it's dependent on roster size and the status of your team.
Definitely. You always have to take everything into account. The owner in my league that dropped him is struggling and probably figured it's better to pick up a C. Shorts rather than continue to roster a guy who's done nothing all year and isn't a guarantee to do anything meaningful this season. Since he was not likely to get anything for him in a trade, it makes sense for him to drop.

I traded LSH for him in the same league I traded for Nicks in. I look at both guys similarly. Luxury players for a team that has depth at other positions to take a shot on for the playoffs. I was only able to take both guys on because I have a large lead and hoarded the WW RB pool (LSH, Thomas, Ballard, Jennings) . I also have made a series of trades for my weekly starters using this pool and am adding huge upside plays in case they pan out

Jennings can be elite when he plays. Rodgers trusts him, especially near the end zone. Plus Cobb is good enough to demand attention and Jones has been outstanding. If he gets healthy his opportunity will be there. Jennings also has free agency pending I believe so has extra motivation to play well

If you are on the edge of the playoffs and can get a guy that will be either an instant help, week 10/11 bye fill in or a matchup play I don't know how you hold a player like Jennings. You have to pimp him out though, can't be idle.

Is there any interest left in this guy? This article seems to point to him POSSIBLY returning for the fantasy playoffs.

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Now that Greg Jennings is back to practice, playing in a game might not be too far behind.

The Green Bay Packers' No. 1 receiver said he felt great after practicing Wednesday for the first time since having surgery Nov. 1 to repair a torn abdominal muscle. Jennings caught balls and ran routes in his limited time at practice, then went inside to run and work on his endurance.

"There were some routes I was able to push it," he said. "I pretty much pushed myself to see how much I can take. As far as speed, I got up to full speed on a few routes. Felt really great. My wind is horrible right now so I'm trying to get my wind under wraps. But other than that, I felt great.

"I felt no pain whatsoever," he added. "It's been a long time coming since I could say that."

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said it would be "a stretch" for Jennings to play Sunday night against the New York Giants, and Jennings won't put a timetable on his return. But he won't rule himself against the team that knocked Green Bay out of last year's playoffs, either.

"I don't feel like I'm a long shot. ... I feel great, the body feels great," he said. "Today was a big step for me. Whether or not I'll play this week, that's still yet to be determined. I want to see how I feel tomorrow and how I respond to what took place today."

It's only been 3 weeks since his surgery so I expect them to give him another week off before he plays. With important division games against the Vikings, Lions and Bears coming up I don't think they'll risk him against the Giants. Jennings plays well against the Vikings and the week 16 matchup against the Titans is a sweet one.

Cobb is the top guy now. Don't see that changing. I do feel it kills James Jones value.

Huh, interesting. I see it a bit differently....We used to have 3 main guys: Jennings, Finley, Nelson

If Jennings gets healthy, we'll have 3 main guys: Cobb, Nelson, Jennings

Not sure what order they will be in going forward. It's clear that Cobb has a huge role. But they also really miss Jennings and his precise route running. Jennings isn't nearly as explosive as Cobb, but he's probably the only WR on the team who consistently gets separation in press coverage & also finds holes in a cover-2 defense.

(KFFL) Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said WR Greg Jennings (hernia) might not be quite ready to return in Week 12 against the New York Giants. McCarthy suggested that the team is happy with Jennings' recovery from hernia surgery, but the receiver might practice part time for a week and then return full time in a practice before being ready to play in a game. Jennings took a pre-set number of snaps in the team's 11-on-11 drills and worked extensively with the scout team in practice.

He seems like almost a lock to play some in Week 13, and barring a setback would appear to be full strength for Week 14 for a pretty nice matchup home against Detroit.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy expects Greg Jennings (groin) to be a "full participant and ready to go" against the Vikings in Week 13.

Jennings was healthy enough to play in Week 12, but conditioning issues prevented him from suiting up against the Giants. With the Pack's passing game appearing well out-of-sync in New York, Jennings' return couldn't come at a better time. He's been sidelined since Week 4, and played just 69 snaps since Week 1. With Randall Cobb continuing to emerge as one of the league's most dangerous receivers, it would be unwise to expect Jennings to produce at a WR1/2 level as he reintegrates himself into the offense, but he needs to be 100 percent owned in fantasy leagues.

Nice to know that it's his wind that kept him out and not the groin...

Coach Mike McCarthy suggested that Greg Jennings (groin) will be a limited snap count in his return this week.

McCarthy expects Jennings to be a full participant in this week's practices, but he's going to need to get back in football shape before he plays a full snap-count. Jennings will be a shaky fantasy play in a "prove it" week versus the Vikings.

Looks like Jennings will be fully healthy for the fantasy playoffs

It's always nice to have the best receiver on a team with a fantastic passing attack.

4 for 46, good for 8.6 in 1pt PPR. Have not seen the snap count, but I'm sure it was limited, even with Jordy going down early (I believe I saw Driver on the field a bit). If Jordy sits week 14, you have to like Jennings as at least a WR2 in a potential shoot-out with the Lions.

led the team in targets too with 8, agree next week he is startable as WR2

Driver was in street clothes yesterday. Jennings looked good and should be there to keep the Pack on schedule going forward.

My bad, thought I saw Driver in there.Update on Nelson - choo choo!

Speaking at Monday's presser, Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Jordy Nelson's hamstring injury is "not of a serious nature," but that he'll be "hard pressed to play this week."

According to McCarthy, Nelson "felt something in pre-game" before ultimately departing in the first quarter. Although it's encouraging Nelson's injury apparently isn't serious, his status for the fantasy playoffs is very much in doubt after hamstring issues hobbled him in Weeks 8 and 9. Owners need to plan on him missing Week 14, and being very questionable for Week 15. Nelson's likely absence will mean a full slate of snaps for Greg Jennings in his second week back, and a continued role in the game plan for James Jones.

Jennings looked good, despite the really crappy o-line play early. He was clearly still getting comfortable after a number of weeks away, but he made some good plays. Looked healthy, looked focused. Agree that he should be a WR2 the rest of the way.
