Jerious Norwood (1 Viewer)

I have him at RB#42 for this season with these stats:

99 633 2 13 102 0

Now, obviously the kid was great with what they gave him and has many people ancy around here to see what he can do with a full load. I have many questions about him and the Falcons though which include will Dunn be around? If there is a change out of zone blocking will he be as good? Can his frail frame handle an entire workload over a season? Is he of good value to obtain or move right now? I am hoping to get some insight from the board on him. Obviously he has some awesome potential but will he obtain it?

If Dunn is done or reduced to third-down back then Norwood looks to take off. Atlanta has 10 games against the bottom half of rushing defenses next year. Of course this is also conditional upon the new coach continuing the rushing-based attack of the last few years.

That's the key right there IMO. Dunn could certainly be shown the door, or have his role significantly reduced, by a new coach, but there's no guarantee that the coach won't want to get his own guy entirely. While Norwood has some good upside, it's not like the team has a lot invested in him.

ALEX THE GREAT

Lost in the shuffle of Jim Mora's firing was this development -- Atlanta also lost coaching consultant Alex Gibbs, one of the top offensive line coaches in NFL history.

In each of Alex Gibbs' three seasons with Atlanta, the Falcons led the NFL in rushing.

Gibbs notified the Falcons in December he would not return, and he now is awaiting his next coaching move from the comforts of his home in Arizona.

Gibbs is regarded as one of the rare coaches who can overhaul a team's running game, have an impact on its passing game and improve an entire offense. He did it with the Raiders, the Chiefs, the Broncos and the Falcons -- and he will do it for whichever team hires him next.

His price tag never is cheap. But the results Gibbs gets are undeniable. Any team that wants one of the league's top rushing offenses can be assured of getting what it wants by hiring Gibbs, one of the highest-profile free agents now available.

I think the lose of Alex Gibbs is almost certain to hurt the Atlanta running game (it's hard not to go anywhere but down for them)

I'd say that anyting could happen with the Falcons backfield due to the pending coaching change. Dunn is a class act. He might be the class act in the NFL. Blank and McKay have a high level of loyalty to Dunn and for many of the right reasons. However...

The coaching change could signal a quick end, reduced role or full blown RBBC for Dunn, Norwood or both. I own the duo in a few dynasty leagues and I am concerned and curious. Obviously, I would like to think the Falcons give Norwood a long look at the starting job but not so sure that is a guarantee any longer.

I was trying pretty hard to trade for Norwood early in the season. He is a player I had one of those good buzz feelings about prior to NFL draft. Dunn is a great player and if he plays another season or not is still in question. Norwood got dinged up in limited action this year making more legit questions about if he can handle a feature Rb load of action at this level or not. Now the loss of Alex Gibbs as well as HC leaves a lot of mystery about what is the focus and direction for the Falcons moving forward.

I have cooled on Norwoods prospects now compared to earlier in the season. I think his oportunity and ability to become a feature Rb at this level are in doubt. He may only be a COP back.

Off topic but I am very curious about where Alex Gibbs works next and where he lands would be a huge boost imho to the Rbs that get to work under him.

lot of question marks, but i think his upside makes him a hold right now. not sure his value can go down much from where it is now unless ATL drafts an early RB (which they prob won't) or signs someone.
