This is why i bailed on wasting my waiver wire move on harrison. NEVER trust a back on a mangidiot team in the playoffs. Jennings , Cribs and Harrison are all getting carries and all will share the carries. Cribs ofcourse in the wildcat. Once they were on the 20 it was all Jennings both drives they got to the 20. No harison. And Jennings is as of halftime actually outplaying harrison . Harrison is what he is a thrid down back. Now that I said that watch him go for a 50 yards TD run . Trust me folks having dealt with mangidiot here in NY. dont play a clevland back in your championship. Next week everyone will pick up jennings and it will be all someone else.

Actually, I have been wanting to see him in over Lewis for a while now. However, Jennings gives them the best chance to win tonight IMO.

Jeez guys - lighten up. Harrison was most likely pulled because he was feeling the effects of his illness. This is not about you 2.

With a bad matchup against a good run-stopping team in what was certain to be a low-scoring game, Harrison was sick all week to boot. This was not the week to start him. He got me into the playoffs with his play last week, and hopefully I'll still be alive next week when he is someone to consider starting again.

He was on my bench for that exact reason- I landed him for the KC and the Raider game but he just cannon fodder to me...

I think Harrison's window of opportunity has closed, at least for next week.

Jennings didn't do much in the second half, but he made some big runs in the first half and early in the second. But the bottom line is the team won a big game against their hated division rivals/defending Super Bowl champs, and Jennings was a big part of the win.

For this reason alone, I would think that Mangini gives Jennings another shot next week. The team needs to see what they have with Jennings, while Harrison will be a free agent and may not be back.

As a new Jennings owner in a dynasty league, I was rather excited (as excited as you can be about a Browns RB) to see Jennings successfully run against Pitt (albeit w/o Troy P) in a game dictated by the wind.

As the game wore on, it became clear that Cleveland would be focusing on the run in an effort to bleed the clock and avoid a potentially game-turning turnover. Frankly, 1.4ypa seems pretty solid all things considered.

I don't think so at all. The ends justify the means; the Browns won the game so Mangini made the correct decision in who to play.

A while back, after getting sucked in too many times, I decided that Harrison's career upside is to maybe, possibly, hopefully, be a very poor man's Jerrius Norwood. When I had a chance to get a Browns RB a few weeks ago, I picked up Jennings. I don't know anything about the guy, except that he's younger and bigger, and more importantly, NOT, Jerome Harrison.

I'm just looking for keeper home-runs and I know it's not Harrison.

ETA: This thread reminds me why non-fantasy guys hate fantasy football. Where else can you find people ripping a coach apart for benching the guy who started the season as the 3rd string RB and had 9 yards on 7 carries in the game, en route to beating the defending SB champs.

So true. I always get a kick out of people saying "Coach X is an idiot" because their fantasy player is not performing as they'd like, yet the respective NFL team wins (also see AP thread regarding Childress).

I think the term "starting RB" should be used loosely in this case. The Browns don't really have a true "starting RB." It's not like Chris Johnson got benched for Lendale after 7 carries and a slow start. If Jennings came in for a series in the the 2nd quarter and got stuffed like Harrison had up until that point then Harrison probably would have gotten more carries later in the game. The Browns correctly went with the hot hand. And like some other posters have mentioned, the Steelers were keying on the run in the 2nd half since it was obvious the Browns were going to run to work the clock with the lead. I seriously doubt Harrison would have done much better in those circumstances. I feel for the guys who started Harrison and got screwed. That said, if you had ANY other viable options you should have used them. The Browns didn't have a rushing TD all year until last night and they were playing the #1 statistical D against the run. You also can't trust Mangini, especially in the playoffs. Who knows how he will use these guys? My guess is that Jennings will get more carries if the Browns are leading and Harrison will get more love if they are trailing since he's a better receiver. The key word in this last statement is guess. I understand your frustration if you started him, but I'd chalk this one up to a lesson learned.

Guys are banged up from all sorts of bumps, bruises, sprains, etc. this time of year. I don't think a bout of the sniffles would be a reason why Harrison didn't get more playing time.

You're confusing pain and illness. The flu's a bit more than sniffles. Even if it's just flu-like symptoms, they can run 100+ degree fevers, experience weakness and dizziness, and fatigue faster than normal. Not to mention that in October, there was a mini outbreak on the Browns, and Mangini was very aggressive in scaling back workloads and practice time. Since Jennings was doing well and the Browns were ahead, it's very possible that he chose just to let Harrison rest.

My whole motive to Harrison was to avoid starting Grant against them in Week 15...now I just don't know. With Forsett's supposed increased role this week, we'll see if he can earn more PT for week 15

So the flu didn't kick in until Harrison's 7th carry?I recognize the flu understatement above, but the point was that Harrison rode the pine since he was ineffective, not because he wasn't feeling well.

Perhaps he wasn't feeling well, but 1) didn't want to let his team down....2) didn't want to give Jennings the opportunity to cut into his time & carries...3) didn't want to miss the opportunity to player against the Steelers....etc. THEN perhaps after being in the game for a few carries he & Mangini realized that although he wanted to play he wasn't effective because of the flu. Your suggestion is that the flu and his performance are unrelated and mutually exclusive. I'll bet that there was a direct connection between those two.

Jennings was supposed to be the starter the week before but they were down quick and had to go to the passing game where Harrison excells. I think its plain and simple. if they are even or have a lead expect Jennings to carry the bigger load ( Harrison on 3rd down etc) but if they are behind expect alot of Harrison. Anyone trusting Mangini RB during a fantasy playoffs game is getting what they deserve. Never play a Rb where mangini is the coach. period. Josh Cribbs runs out of the wildcat formation against the Pittsburgh Steelers Thursday night. It is Cribbs' vision when running the football that has teammate Joe Thomas convinced that he could be a top running back in the NFL. Browns offensive tackle Joe Thomas is convinced that Josh Cribbs could be a top running back in the NFL.

"There's no doubt," said Thomas, after watching the game film of Cribbs rushing for 87 yards against the Steelers' top-ranked run defense. "I think he's too valuable to take off of kick return and punt return and special teams, but there's no doubt in my mind, especially after seeing the things that he did [Thursday night] that he'd be an extremely successful running back in the NFL.

"The guy's got some unbelievable vision, just watching the game film and seeing him going to his left, step toward the sideline.

"He must have some unbelievable vision because he could see all way back to his right, there was a lane the whole way back, like some of the greatest running backs in the NFL could. He hit a seam and took it for about 20-some yards. He kind of takes the approach it's a punt return. But the vision he's got is amazing."

Cribbs agreed.

"Being a jack of all trades, I feel like that's one of my abilities. My position is running back. I was a running back back in the day. The wildcat is me at running back. It's a straight handoff. It's not like we're trying to fool you with the quarterback being in the mix. I'm getting the ball and I'm running it; try to stop me."

Cribbs had a 37-yard run, the longest of the game, out of the wildcat to set up a field goal. He also had runs of 18 and 14 yards out of the formation. With 13 more yards, he would've been the first rusher to gain 100 yards on the Steelers in 31 games.
