Jerricho Cotchery Game-Time Decision For Week 8 (1 Viewer)

From RotoWorld:

ESPN News reports Jets WR Jerricho Cotchery will be a game-time decision for Sunday's game versus the Chiefs.

Coach Eric Mangini doesn't provide injury details, but it's believed that Cotchery is dealing with a leg injury of some sort. Check practice reports, and hold off on inserting Cotchery into your lineup until we get further word. Cotchery only caught one pass for zero yards in Week 7, and this may have been why.

Read about this Sunday. Sucks to see it's already escalated to dreaded GTD. Hopefully nothing serious. I wasn't expecting much anyway the way the Jets ran all over the Raiders and the Titans ran all over the Chiefs ...

I have been trying to find further evidence of this as thought I read something along these lines Sunday night, ie "unspecified leg injury".I will keep checking back here, and update if I find something which isnt reported in this thread...

From NewsDay:

* Also on the agenda, hopefully, today: getting some kind of update on the condition of Cotchery, who we suspect has a leg injury, and Damien Woody, who injured his calf against the Raiders. Cotchery said on the radio yesterday that if the game had been scheduled for that afternoon, he would have been a game-time decision. Eric Mangini probably wasn't thrilled to hear that kind of public disclosure from his wideout.

NewsDay Blog

Game time decision on Wed afternoon? With four full days before they play you don`t hear that too often.

Usually it is Friday after practice or Sat when they announce game time decisions.

Update from RotoWorld:

Coach Eric Mangini said on Wednesday that Jerricho Cotchery's injury is a "shoulder."

That helps. Cotchery, whose injury Jets beat writers initially called a "leg," is expected to be a game-time decision against the Chiefs in Week 8.

coach/beat writers, are you sure it isn't a "finger", "foot" or "head"?!?!?!?!

I wouldn't trust anything Mangini says. He has listed Coles as a game time decision for 2 years now. How can anybody be a game time decision on Tuesday? First it's a leg and then a shoulder. Didn't Cotchery finish the game in Oakland? Mangini is a hump.

The NY Daily News agrees with ESPNews' prediction that Jerricho Cotchery (shoulder) will be a game-time decision in Week 8.

Cotchery appeared "very limited" in the opening part of Thursday's practice and didn't participate in one-on-one drills. He is likely to be listed as questionable. Brad Smith and Chansi Stuckey may be forced to start Sunday.

Sucks as I will likely have to watch Asomugha ###-mug Mason all day Sunday.

Stuckey or Smith? Smith did NOTHING the first 6 weeks, while Stuckey caught a few TDs. Then last week Smith has a good game. I don't know what to think.

You should think the Jets will spend the day running all over the Chiefs and look elsewhere for a replacement WR. :lmao:

This is what I am thinking with respect to Cotchery in general. If he plays, regardless of Coles status, how valuable will he be?In other words, not that the Jets are lighting the world on fire, but if they get up on the Chiefs, Cotch may take a seat at some point to be on the safe side.Plus I am itching for an excuse to unhitch the Josh Morgan bandwagon.

I'd be more comfortable with Stuckey over Smith. Smith has had his moments over the past few years, but is very inconsistent and prone to dropsies. I like what I've seen out of Stuckey, although keep an eye on whether Coles plays, too. If Coles is in there, it may be Smith that takes Cotch's place, leaving Stuckey only in 3 WR sets.

This game has Favre throwing for 3-4 TD's written all over it. They played crappy last week and want to rebound and get the offense back on track.

This game **should** be winnable for the Jets with or without Jerricho vs. the hapless KC Chiefs. So as a Cotch owner, sit him this game and get him 100% healthy vs. a tough BUF matchup that has alot riding on it + should be an event where NYJ has to pass the ball.

Although his matchup is very sexy this week w/ Coles most likely out, I'd rather have Cotch down the stretch in my playoff run, rather than one POSSIBLE good game then out for multiple weeks.

Yeah...and I'm sure the Giants thought their game vs the Browns would be easy...and the Skins vs the Rams....and so on and so on...If Cotch can play...he'll play...Signed...concerned Cotchery owner.

If both are a no go who is the better replacement

Brad Smith or Stuckey?

Its not Stuckey or Smith...its Stuckey and Smith, Coles might be out too!

Just throwing this out there:

CLOWNEY COULD BE ACTIVATED

With WRs Laveranues Coles (concussion) and Jerricho Cotchery (shoulder) hurting, the Jets may activate speedster David Clowney for the first time this season.

Clowney, who had eight catches for 222 yards and two touchdowns (70 and 71 yards) in the preseason, suffered a broken collarbone against Washington in the second preseason game.

Clowney could be the player the Jets need to stretch the field.
