Jets Goal Line Back (1 Viewer)

Is it Greene or LT? Couldn't find any info, but I saw that Greene was the RB in the goal to go when Sanchez threw a TD to Keller vs the Cowboys.

I've been comparing Greene and Ingram, they have some eerily similar stats and situation for anyone who's interested. The goal line situation is the only thing I can't seem to find info on.

Ingram:

1st Option when Running: Received 61.9% of team carries

3rd Option when Passing: Participated in 13% team's of passing plays (Behind Sproles and P.T.)

Goal Line RB

Greene

1st Option when Running: Received 62.5% of team carries

2nd Option when Passing: Participated in 27.78% of team's passing downs (Behind LT, McKnight surprisingly wasn't used).

Goal line back?

Yea with Greene missing that 3rd preseason game don't really have much to go on. Was wondering if anyone noticed anything in the Cowboys game.

Frankly, he did not look good. The line did not get much push against Dallas, but Greene is not the kind of guy who creates his own (LT looked more spry when he got his carries in the fourth). Thing is with the Jets, they have an all-time leader around the GL in LT to plug in. Regardless of what he can do with 20 carries a game, he has a nose for the endzone (ala Marcus Allen late in his career). Pierre Thomas has also shown he can do it there, but obviously not to the same extent. Also consider (for better or worse), Shotty Jr. has shown that when he needs the tough yard, he will go with the vet (witness with Thomas Jones in the playoffs a couple of years back). Greene (IMO) has not done much since to win the trust in that dept., so I really think they will look other places.

Nice analysis. I've been watching the Cowboys closely for years and usually they're very stout against the run, so I'm chalking that up as a tough matchup. To be honest, it's not (too) often that the Jets Defense is handled the way the Cowboys handled them on Sunday night. The Romo fumble and INT stole the headlines, but what I saw was arguably the best D in the league get torn to shreds. Usually the Jets O is in a ground and pound mode b/c they're playing from ahead, but playing catch up all night it was clear that was L.T's touches increased ONLY b/c of his role as the receiving back. 76% of the snaps LT saw were passing downs. 67% of the run plays that the Jets ran were with Greene. It was pretty clear when Greene was in the game that the Cowboys were much more prepared for the run. I'm very convinced the Jets will be featuring Greene in games where they're ahead. But you validated my concerns about the goal line touches. I think LT may get the nod there but haven't really seen any evidence of it yet.

LT may get some GL looks, but the guy there is Greene.

...but, first off...It was week 1.

2nd, LT is done, the reason he looked so spry, is he had tons of field to work with since he was getting the majority of his touches n the screen or dump offs.

3rd, They have declared that they are going to go Greene.

4th, All this hate because Greene did not win you your fantasy match last week. He is a good back, and has shown he can come through...WHEN IT MATTERS!

5th, You cant produce anything on the ground Monday when you are trailing a lot, and have the oline welcoming Ware and the crew into the backfield on the red carpet.

6th, The Jets are not a passing team, no matter how bad Rex tries...Sanchez is horrible QB, just a down right pathetic QB. They will have to run the ball, and Greene is a carry the load kinda back, and LT showed last year, again, he is cooked.

Its great to use your gut to make a tough decision, but on this one guys, use your head.

I believe most people are using their heads when it comes to Greene....he has no elite skills ie speed, power, vision etc.....that vastly differentiate him as a potential "bell cow". And with the Jets o-line vastly overrated he does not have the wiggle necessary to create room on his own. In effect all he is is a battering ram who survives by shear volume IF HE GETS THE CARRIES! And as far as the goal line goes he is not a great goal line back because the greatest goal line backs- like Marcus Allen/LT - do not just run straight into the line with their head down as Greene has shown to do. And those that do have elite power like Turner/Jacobs....and Greene is neither.Greene is an enigma...if he doesnt do it against a weak JAX squad today all you Greene owners will realize the truth and come to your senses.
