Jimmy Smith Super Bowl rings? (1 Viewer)

Jimmy Smith had a great career, but his first two seasons in the league with the Cowboys were injury riddled. I was curious if he had recieved a ring after the '92 or '93 season. I haven't been able to find the information anywhere, and this is where I go for all that is football, The Sharks!

Edit: I know Wikipedia shows him as two-time champ. I don't trust that site for anything. Looking for solid source.

Link? He broke his leg his rookie year, and I didn't think he played all year. If accurate, that would rule out Pasadena.

He played in the Pasadena Super Bowl. I know because I watched the game. This is exhibit A why I hate the internet at times. I answer a query and my job is still not done.

Pro-football-reference might have the info. Pro Football Archives probably has it. Nfl.com (the Super Bowl section) definitely would have it.

I appreciate the info, but if you have been around these boards much, too many people post information that turns out to be factually inaccurate. Stating an answer with no supporting facts, just doesn't cut it. Had you said you remember him playing, that would have at least been something.

Thanks again. I'll check the your suggestions, but hadn't found it on NFL.com before. Maybe I wasn't in the right section.

I always post actual facts unless it is some obvious humorous post. He saw special teams action in Pasadena. I am pretty sure he didn't play in Atlanta but he was on the Dallas roster at least for some portion of the season. To my knowledge, he received a ring but for that I have no proof. He was part of the team just like "Nancy" in accounting.

It is possible he did not get one for the 1993 season. It depends on how generous the Cowboys were with rings.

Just found out he was IR'd early in '93 season. No way he played in XXVIII, but would assume he got a ring. Haven't found that as fact anywhere, but that's what I'm going with. Thanks for everyone's help! Hankmoody: for some reason when I was searching for info, I couldn't access those pages. They just wouldn't load. Thanks for the link, it worked, and was able to see info.

From Savannah Morning News, Jan. 6, 2006:

The two-time defending champion New England Patriots are the NFL's Lords of the Rings.

Of the 53 players on the New England Patriots' roster, 36 own Super Bowl rings and 30 have two or more. By contrast, the Jaguars have one active player, Jimmy Smith, who owns a Super Bowl ring.

Smith has a pair of them from the Dallas Cowboys back-to-back victories after the 1992-1993 seasons although he was on injured reserve the second season. He gave the first one to his father and he keeps the second one in a safety deposit box.

Even the public relations people get a Super Bowl Ring, it's not just active players and coaches getting rings. Sometimes cheerleaders get Super Bowl Rings!

One of the Guys on local sports radio, afternoon show, was given a spurs championship ring because he knew a Scout for the team. Are nfl rings that easy to get too?

I'll give you $2,300 dollars for it. Look, I don't need to buy this ring. Anything more than that and I can't make a profit. Do we have a deal?

SF Giants broadcast team got World Series rings. Not sure if that is a normal procedure but I suppose the owner can by rings for whomever he ####### wants to. If I was an owner I'd buy them for the janitors, why the hell not? It's not like a lot of players don't see it as more a piece of jewelry than some sort of premier trophy, guys sell these things left and right. Too bad Travis Henry never got a ring, that would be a great story for us to tell in here.

This ring, it's gonna take up space in the store, I'm almost taking a loss on it already at this price. $2,350 is as high as I can go and that's a bargain for you. You're not gonna get more out of it than that.
