Joe Horn (1 Viewer)

IMO Joe Horn is the most talented receiver on that Saints squad - do you think Brees starts to lean on the veteran as the season moves along (ala the way he did with McCardell)?

Sure seemed that way against the Eagles........

If so, I would think he is an excellent buy low..............

i would think the week BEFORE he caught two TDs would have been that time...good luck with that now.

Even though he had a great game last week, he has a bye this week and as a Horn owner I would consider trading him as low 2nd/high 3rd WR value.

I'm not worried about the one week flare up increasing his value. Surprised you would think that would have any effect on a negotiation. Would it affect YOUR offer?By the way, In my league I can still trade for him with exactly the same offer the other owner had on the table before last week. Reality is if you look at his performance the previous weeks, his performance going forward could go either way. But, the facts are that his performance increased dramatically when Henderson was injured. Therefore, I'm thinking this could be the tip of something more for at least the next few weeks (after the bye).

So a slumping WR has a season-long drought and then has a breakout monster game and you don't think it'll affect negotiations?

I actually think he still has little value. Hes their 3rd option no matter how you look at it. I trade him and got back Kennison in a deal and I was a little peeved on Sunday but I still think it was the right move.

Not really. Not one week. At least it wouldn't affect my approach in negotiations. The greater trend is he hasn't been particuliarly productive for a while. Now if he strings together 2 or 3 games, yes, then I think it would.

Regardless, I guess then you are both saying that he will get better as the season goes on? (ie good buy)

Or are you just curious about my approach towards evaluating players and trades?

If Payton's comments after the game are any indication, Horn will continue having decent games.

"I've got to keep doing a better job of getting him involved early on," Saints first-year coach Sean Payton said of his veteran receiver, who finished with six catches for 110 yards. "He plays hard and has been fantastic. He is everything you want in a player."

I just traded Maroney and wayne for Ronnie Brown and Horn....the OTHER owner even offered this...I had to jump....Now I have Tiki, Brown, Holt, Reggie Williams, and Horn as my starters :)

I said earlier in the season that he'd be breaking out 5 games in. I guess I was a week early. I still stand by it - Brees' shoulder is getting better game-by-game, and his deep accuracy is giong to get better. As it does, Horn's numbers are going to continue to grow.

it absolutely would. All signs point to Brees becoming comfortable and really showing that he's a very good qb. Horn is not the #3 on that team no matter how you slice it. He is their best WR. period. Bush will get his, but the Colston love has overshadowed the fact that Horn is in his prime and capable of putting up some monster games. This is just the beginning of him have a fabulous season. He and Bush will continue to compliment one another, and Brees will take advantage of it. imho of course :)

I agree with your humble opinion sir - except how I would approach the negotiation - which is why I think it might be a shark move to try to move on him now in some leagues (assuming a shark doesn't already own him). Look above for the disagreement on value. Tells me he may still be able to be had for a song in some leagues.
