Bit if a fishing trip but it is an interesting situation.

From CBS/Rotoworld:

We mentioned this earlier this year and will mention it again now: Joey Galloway dominates New Orleans. In six meetings with the Saints as a Buccaneer, Galloway has nine touchdowns with at least one score in every game. Earlier this year, Galloway scored twice and caught four passes for 135 yards on the Saints, whom he faces in New Orleans in Week 13.(Updated 11/28/2007).

Fantasy Analysis

Galloway's track record against the Saints is pristeen, and New Orleans' pass defense remains one of the worst in the NFL (27th with 19 pass TDs allowed). Galloway should start in every league in Week 13 Fantasy play
Joey Galloway has caught a touchdown pass in six consecutive games against the Saints, who the Bucs will go against on Sunday.

(Updated 11/28/2007) Impact

If Galloway scores this week, he'll become the third player since 1970 to record a TD catch in at least seven straight games against an opponent. Former St. Louis Cardinals WR Mel Gray is the all-time record holder; between 1974 and 1978 he scored in nine consecutive games vs. Dallas.
I feel like rolling the dice on this but with Garcia out I wonder how this will play out. What's the skinny on his backup?

of his 23 touchdowns since '05, only 6 have come on the road. yes, he's torched the saints but it's usually at home for some reason. take that FWIW.

I've had Galloway all season(drafted) and have been watching this closely myself. I'm not in a position I have to play him(solid depth), but would like to.

First of all, Garcia has a sore back as opposed to a textbook type injury. Sure, that can still be limiting for a QB, but Gruden was optimistic yesterday after practice and Garcia said he was feeling better. The dreaded GTD. As for the backup, I'm feeling that Luke McCown would get the start over the youngster Gradkowski if Garcia can't go, although it was Gradkowski that relieved Garcia last week. McCown is a capable QB, but can still run hot and cold. Considering the matchup with the Saints, I think McCown would still be capable of finding Galloway enough to give him decent numbers. (6-75-1)?

That said, I still think it's at least 60-40 that Garcia will play at this point. I'll be working the FBG news page tomorrow pre-game, and will get any news pertaining to this put up as soon as I learn something.

Galloway's strength is getting open deep.

Badkowski throws a TERRIBLE deep ball. Just awful.

If he is under center, hope for another option or some serious luck.

Hasn't it already been decided that he is the #3 QB this week, with McCown starting if Garcia doesn't go?

Garcia really doesn't throw a good deep ball either. And many of Galloway's TD's from Garcia come on medium crossing routes where he gets a good block or has a perfect angle and takes it to the house. Badkowski can make that throw. Probably not as good as Garcia though.

Yes, it sounds like we don't have to worry about Gradkowski if Garcia can't go
Fourth-year veteran Luke McCown got the bulk of the work this week and it appears he will start if Garcia can't.

Garcia encouraged, but a game-time call Published Sat Dec 1 11:10:00 a.m. CT 2007

(Rotoworld) Jeff Garcia (back) said Friday that he was "encouraged" after practicing in a limited fashion Friday, but remains a game-time call for Week 13.

Impact: "I'm taking steps in the right direction and feeling better, a lot better than I thought I'd feel," he said. If Garcia cannot play, Luke McCown will start against New Orleans. Garcia's chances seem to be about 50-50 right now.

I think anyone who started him is pretty happy. On pace for 520 yards today at the end of the 1st (obviously he won't get there but he will put up ridiculous #s today).
