Joey Harrington... Good BYE week filler (1 Viewer)

The Packers give up the 4 most points to QB's, so you may be on something here. But then again we're talking about Joey Harrington.

I wouldnt count on much if I were you. The Packers are comming off a bye week, and Harrington sucks. The Packers D has been getting better every week, and again, Harrington isnt Bulger, Brees or even Kitna.

I thought the same thing last week with Favre on a bye.

I should have started Gradkowski or even Losman over him.

Harrington had a better matchup and he still managed to be only the 21st highest scoring QB for week 6 in my league. They were playing the Jets for goodness sakes.

Also he only put up numbers and the TD late in the game, all in all I was happy he ended up getting me some points, it did not look good at all until the 4th quarter.

If you are starting Joey, you better root for GB to jump out to a lead. That's the only reason he had a decent stat line last week - the Jets lead forced Miami to abandon the run in the 4th quarter. We all know their best chance to win is to get the ball in Ronnie Brown's hands (or should I say, out of Harrington's)

The Packers have yet to muster up any resistance against an opposing QB so far this season:

Week 1: Grossman 262-1

Week 2: Brees 353-2

Week 3: Kitna 342-2

Week 4: McNabb 288-2

Week 5: Bulger 220-2

I realize this is Joey Harrington but the Packers' pass defense is absolutely putrid. Charles Woodson hasn't practice so far this week and that could weaken an already dreadful secondary. Again, Harrington has a well-documented history of p*****g all over a good matchup but this one is absolutely sensational for him. I completely agree that he is a good bye week filler if you need him. I can't think of a QB in the league I wouldn't feel comfortable starting against the Packers right now.

I watched the entire Jet game last week and there were a lot of dropped passes. If even some of those were caught (or not tipped up into INTs) then Harrington would have had a much better game. I think he threw twice into the endzone at the end as well and McMichael dropped a wide open perfect pass. In addition, Saban also called the game way too conservative, it is apparent that Joey can pass the ball quite well yet he kept giving it to Ronnie Brown even when they fell behind. I anticipate a solid game from Joey this week against the Packers as Saban starts to let him pass more in his second week practicing with the 1st team and in order to keep up with the packers. Over 200 yds, and 2 TDs is the floor and 300+ with a 3TDs could be the ceiling. Not a bad matchup for this week and one I would play if it was a bye week. For me, I think i'm going with Pennington instead.

It's probably irrational, but he's at home and on carpet so I think he'll have a decent game both on the ground and in the air. By contrast, I wouldn't start him if it was in Pittsburgh.

I'll add that he probably won't do great, but I trust the veteran and him being a top10 QB for the last few years (not including injury) over mistake prone (Harrington) or rookie (Gradowski) QB's. Still.. it seems a borderline call.

I would worry a little about Harrington. Check out his career #'s against GB:

Passing Rushing Sacked Fumbles

Situation G QBRat Comp Att Pct Yds Y/G Y/A TD Int Rush Yds Y/G Avg TD Sack YdsL Fum FumL

vs Green Bay 7 52.6 114 239 47.7 1157 165.3 4.8 7 11 18 57 8.1 3.2 0 9 57 5 0

That was with Detroit, splicer.

I foresee the Dolphins passing a lot this game b/c I think the Pack will be able to hit some big plays.

Not sure if it'll be a barn burner, but a lot of points might occur in this game - one team jumpinbg out big and the other playing a lot of successful catching up.

I think both Brown and Chambers are gonna have HUGE games catching the ball.

His impressive play 2 weeks ago and his 199 yard 4th quarter are hard to explain. He's supposed to stink..well.

How impressed were you two weeks ago? Last week, in the 4th quarter the Jets seemed to use a bend-don't-break D, at least for the 10 minutes they showed us after the Pittsburgh/KC game was switched from. He was able to move the ball, which was great, but it doesn't mean as much when the D pretty much lets it happen.

You're right about the Jets prevent D, however I did feel they changed up and were trying to stop the pass at a point. I don't think they spotted him 200 yards, maybe half.2 weeks ago, he looked like a good QB. I haven't thought that since his first game or two probably. I expected after everything negative in Detroit(some his fault, some just bad team+coaching) his confidence is shot and he'd never really amount to anything. Instead, he looks like a guy with potential. It looks like he's learning and adjusting....he looks like a 2nd year QB. We've seen plenty of QBs just take such a beating and devellopped so poorly that if they get to another team they're "shot". All I'm saying is this guy is not and I'm very surprised. It can't be easy to take all the sacks and losses he's taken and all the mistakes he's made with INTs and all the beatings in the press and still have a decent head on your shoulders. He seems to. He seems to be a young QB Saban can develop into a good NFL QB. I don't expect ya to believe me, I wouldn't if I didn't see it. Watch though, it's like Detroit never happenned.

I picked up the Packers D because they are facing Joey. :bag:

Of course, the only other options were KC, TAM, DET, NYJ, NYG, OAK, and HOU
