Completely agree. You have to strip away all the stuff that producers have obviously encouraged him to do for the entertainment of the average viewer. It actually annoys me, but I understand why he has to do it.
I get that ESPN wants to create their own Madden, but its the stuff between the nonsense when he's breaking down plays or player's habits when you really find out how great he is at the job. Plus, like the OP said, there are still those moments when he lets the sideline (chucky) version of himself out once in awhile, which is great stuff. Personally, I don't think there is anyone better at it right now. And that includes Cris Collinsworth and his awesome teetering-on-puberty voice cracking.
