According to Insider Houshamazzily should be playing this week.I will find the link but not sure if you can post and Insider link.Of course I think it's speculation from the writer more than fact.Any word on TJ Whosyourmama yet?
Washington looked great Sunday. But, it was the Browns...Pittsburgh is a different animal. I agree that Chad will play. I hope TJ gets back in there...with the way Washington played, and the way Rudi is running the ball, Pittsburgh will have their hands full.Kelley Washington anyone?![]()
This is false. Chad Johnson has an interview on the Bengals website that says he will be playing no matter what. He said that the concussion was not bothering him at all but he was having trouble lifting his shoulder which is an injury he sustained prior to the chicken dance. He talked about this being the biggest game of the year, and that everyone with small injuries were going to step up. Both CJ and Housh will be starting.CJ Interviewwas watching nfl network and they were talking about the bengals being without their top 2 receivers next week, and without their 2 OL.
i was like wtf! they really made it sound like it was a done deal.. for anyone watching it was on at around 7am this morning on their recap show
Great point. I just got done saying the same thing to my wife concerning Chad, Rudi and Carson when that hit came. Marvin Lewis will use the Giants comeback vs. the Eagles to justify these three still playing at that point in the game, but the Browns are not the Giants on offense. Plus, why not get other players a few live action plays in case they are needed later in the season? But he's going to play this week.![]()

Ya, it's not like Marv should have told them to take off their pads and ice down. Give them a break and odds are they won't even have to come back in.The Jerk said:Great point. I didn't think defenders can leave their feet like that to deliver a hit. Something about projectile missle.Carson should be taking CJ out to dinner for leaving him high and dry over the middle.SteelerMurf said:http://www.skreeman.com/browns/chadsmack.gifBobcat10 said:![]()

I'm sure they're quivering in their boots.Bengals are "for real" for the 2nd year in a row after 10+ of being the laughing stock of the NFL, congrats.Do you really expect Chad to sit out vs. the Steelers?C'mon....the Bengals have looked forward to this game since the schedule came out...and after last night, i think Jacksonville gave the D-line coach a good gameplan to keep it 1 dimensional and leave it on Ben's rusty arm.Either way if #85 or TJ miss the game, i don't worry....Chris Henry will slide in and fill the place...Bengals are for real yet again...and Pitt should be worried.
Do you think the league will review the hit?Nah. No need to, its part of the game. I havent been hit since Ive been in the NFL. (knocks on wood). Theres my one. He has a great story to tell his grandkids when he gets old - 'I was never able to stop 85 but I did knock him out.'imeimex said:
This is a Jets fan talking, so no need to denigrate the Bengals due to his remarks. I think the Steelers are more concerned about raising their level of play on offense in general. As for the Bengals D-line coach... unless he can import Stroud and Henderson, I don't think the game plan will help much.I'm sure they're quivering in their boots.Bengals are "for real" for the 2nd year in a row after 10+ of being the laughing stock of the NFL, congrats.Do you really expect Chad to sit out vs. the Steelers?C'mon....the Bengals have looked forward to this game since the schedule came out...and after last night, i think Jacksonville gave the D-line coach a good gameplan to keep it 1 dimensional and leave it on Ben's rusty arm.Either way if #85 or TJ miss the game, i don't worry....Chris Henry will slide in and fill the place...Bengals are for real yet again...and Pitt should be worried.

I'm fairly "old school" when it comes to trash talking, flamboyant players. Deion Sanders made me sick. Give me Barry S. and Larry F. handing the ball to the ref anytime. But Chad is different. He is so playful and authentic in his exuberance that I enjoy him most of the time despite being so-called "old school" and a Steelers fan at the same time. The only thing I disagree with is his self-assessments. #85 got covered a few more times last year than he admits. Houshmandzadeh rubs me much more the wrong way as he acts so much more like a punk despite doing so much less than Chad on the field.Do you think the league will review the hit?Nah. Youre okay this week?? Green light for you? No repurcussions?? No headaches last night?
Naw, I was fine. I went skating last night (media laughs). No seriously, I did go skating.
Was this hit worse than the other hit by (unintelligible)?
As a defensive back or a safety with the chance to hit the guy who talks all the trash, I think I would have done the same thing.
What was your reaction when you saw the play on film??
Can I say "damn!!" on camera?? (media laughs) That was my reaction - damn! It was a good hit.
Do you know Brian Russell very well?
I do now!!
When did you get your bearings back?
Probably after my catscan.

No flag on the play but the ball was intercepted so maybe that's the reason. If the DB doesn't jump in front of Chad, the ball, Chad and Russell all arrive together at the same time.Looks like Johnson was trying to position himself to go after the defender after he lands but never saw Russell coming.Did that hit draw a flag? If that's not unnecessary roughness, then what more does the defender need to do to earn a penalty? Then again, the NFL and its media partners never seem to get enough of showing the top hits of the week and the season, so nevermind. I'm wondering if Russell gets hit with a fine for that though. We will see.

I can appreciate the legality of the hit in relation to the context of the play, but I'll repeat that if a hit of that type isn't unnecessarily roughness, then I'm not sure what is. It's one thing to lay out someone on special teams or on a clean catch opportunity. This went way beyond "necessary" at least to me.Once his teammate touched the ball it was a "tipped" ball. Then the player on defense becomes a blocker.Legal hit.
What do you suggest, a pounds per square inch meter be installed so that we can determine exactly how hard he hit him? What psi do you think is "necessary"?If it is a clean hit it is a clean hit.I can appreciate the legality of the hit in relation to the context of the play, but I'll repeat that if a hit of that type isn't unnecessarily roughness, then I'm not sure what is. No, just that a hit that hard to any defenseless player is unnecessary roughness. Would anyone NOT expect a penalty if that's a QB falling down unprotected who gets hit in that fashion? Seems inconsistent that it's allowed on a WR. I'm fine with a WR getting creamed going over the middle on a clean pass (not tipped), but not in a disrupted play like this when he's vulnerable. It's great that you think it's clean. The officials agreed with you, too. So it looks like you're correct. Hope I'm still allowed to post a dissenting opinion. And I wouldn't rule out a fine or at least a ruling on that hit coming down from the league office. What do you suggest, a pounds per square inch meter be installed so that we can determine exactly how hard he hit him? I never intended to imply that you aren't allowed to post a dissenting opinion, that is what makes this board fun. But the rules are the rules. It is a rough game, that's why guys who can fearlessly go across the middle are a commodity, as are hard hitting DBs.Any you may be right, there may be a fine. But if there is, I will attribute it to the fact that it is Chad Johnson who got hit. If it were Wes Welker, this discussion ends after someone says, "Damn that was a good hit."No, just that a hit that hard to any defenseless player is unnecessary roughness. Looks to me he led with his shoulder... Anyone have a link that is more clear than the .gif linked in this thread?Defender's helmet under Chad's chin = Helmet to helmet contact of a defensless receiver. He projected his helmet like a missile into CJ's head.Fine is in order.
Hmmm. Looks like he got him with both the top of the helmet and the shoulder pad. Either way, he lowered his head when making the hit, which is a big no-no. The rule is you must always be able to see the player you are hitting.Looks to me he led with his shoulder... I agree, I don’t think Russell tried to lead with his head but his helmet did catch Johnson under the chin.No flag but a fine for helmet to helmet. Is is not illegal to "lead with head" even if you don't hit the guy with your helmet? I thought they changed that rule recently. I thought it was a clean hit except for the defender leading with his head.
Or he "turned" his head so as not to lead with his helmet.... Tough call.Hmmm. Looks like he got him with both the top of the helmet and the shoulder pad. Looks to me that he got hit square at the top of the numbers by the shoulderpad of the Brownie, then his head whipped down and his chin crashed down on top of the helmet. Like two hits in one. Super hard, but clean hit.Or he "turned" his head so as not to lead with his helmet.... Tough call.Hmmm. Looks like he got him with both the top of the helmet and the shoulder pad. Warren Sapp's hit on Chad Clifton a couple of years back wasn't against the rules, either, but it certainly was "unnecessary".I like the high school interpretation of the "unnecessary roughness" rule. Basically, if it wasn't necessary, then it's unnecessary roughness. Very simple, very easy to understand, and a much better guideline. What do you suggest, a pounds per square inch meter be installed so that we can determine exactly how hard he hit him? dude, it's TJ's heel, not his ankle. from what i've read, he looks ready to play, though no one's committing. see if he practices this week (esp Fri) and you'll have your answer. i can't imagine chad missing this game for any reason unless he misses practice all week.I am bumping this for an analysis on Chris Henry's production.1. Is CJ going to play this weekend?2. Is TJ going to play this weekend? If they play, do you think they will be playing at 100% and play on all downs? I have Chris Henry in both of my leagues and could possibly drop him in one of my leagues where I could use the bench space. Is K. Washington the 3rd WR or Henry?I am having a hard time cutting Henry as he has great potential. If TJ gets hurt again, which is definitely a possibility as ankles are not the most stable joint after injuring, I could see Henry becoming a top 10-15 WR.
