Jon Baldwin is ACTIVE today (1 Viewer)

How good did this guy look last night? I saw just a bit but I thought he looked great.

From before the SD game last week:

"The Chiefs used Jon Baldwin mainly as a slot receiver in his NFL debut last week in Oakland. That’s a spot usually reserved for a smaller, quicker player.

But coach Todd Haley said that may be Baldwin’s role, at least for the time being.

“Steve Breaston and Dwayne Bowe are playing at a very high level right now,” Haley said. “They’re making good progress every week, and I surely don’t want to disrupt them a whole bunch and start moving them around. At the same time, we want to get guys involved that we believe can help us. Jonathan is a big guy and has a bunch of ability.

“You’ll see us just being creative in the way we use a number of guys … to attack the defense we’re playing. Last week it was something we felt gave us an advantage. … It was a good start for him.”

Baldwin caught one pass for 14 yards against the Raiders."

Add in: Somewhat productive but not real productive run game. All of a sudden this offense looks like it has some real potential.

I like it.

Interesting discussion from Peter King on Michael Holley's book about Belichick. Baldwin comes up when they are talking about the trade Atlanta made for Julio:

Fascinating, too, is the discussion of last spring's Julio Jones trade. Blank urged Dimitroff to feel out his friends in the business to see if the trades makes as much sense to them as it does to the Falcons. Dimitroff called Belichick. "As a friend,'' Belichick told him, "I wouldn't do it.'' His advice was to not move up 21 picks in the first round, with all the attendant costs, to get Jones. Stick where you are, and take a good receiver like Pitt's Jonathan Baldwin. He's just as good, Belichick says.Of course, the Falcons dealt for Jones. And Pioli took Baldwin for the Chiefs at the bottom of the round.

Great Info man... That definitely motivated me to move him up on my waiver wire priority list

I'm putting my claim in. The guy had impact from his own personal "day one". Considering the rest of the guys on the waiver wire are covered with ten foot pole marks, this one makes sense to me.

The tools are certainly there for Baldwin to become a star in this league. The biggest question about him is between his ears IMO.
Agree and Haley as his coach might be the best place to start off his career.
Really, Haley as his coach the best place to start his career. I'd say the complete opposite because haley doesnt like to utilize his best players. He thinks he is some kind of genius and plays mind games. Chiefs will never go anywhere with that clown.
yeah....like the playoffs and stuff.....oh wait.....

Starting him over DHB, Branch, Julio and Marshall.

He looks beastly. Just watching the NFLN replay of him now just to double check what I thought I saw and I'm a believer.

He looks like Marshall was supposed to be when the Phins traded for him. And Cassel is playing really well right now.

Heaven forbid a player become "great" on his team. Doesn't seem he's likes to share any credit for wins. Dan Reeves was like that.

He had a couple RZ looks, but as with all my WR3s this year, I've been chasing points. Sucks, but I can't time anything right.

The whole offense was out of sync, and Baldwin wasn't in on many 2wr sets.

He also caught a 40 yard td but was flagged for an OPI. For a weak game statistically, he looks like a very promising young receiver. It seems like he's very effective in the end zone and Cassel knows it.
