I agree...the report just sounded so non-chalant and matter of fact like it was common knowledge and I've never heard anything of the sort yet.Can someone explain to me the signing of Shaun King by the Lions? Is that signing a precursor of other moves, or is that their final plan for the QB position for the upcoming season (Harrington, King and Orlovsky) ?

Imho, King is there for an extra arm in camp... probably just a coach helping a QB (that he worked with in the past) get a chance to make waves and catch on with someone else. Not signed as the answer to Detroit's QB woes.

Okay, not meaning to intentially slander you directly, but you are absolutely wrong. You obviously have never seen him play. Kitna is an above average QB who had the unfortunate circumstance of playing for teams when they were terrible. Don't you think it's more than just a coincidence that he made the Pro Bowl when the Bengals stopped being completely terrible?Kitna in Detroit puts the Lions in the playoffs, and more than top-10, he probably puts up top-5 fantasy QB numbers. Peyton, Eli, Hasselback, Brady.... Palmer won't be healthy, McNabb won't have receivers again, Culpepper will be out.
I really don't think it's unreasonable to see him put up 25-30TDs.

I think it's hilarious that people on these boards are saying Kitna is terrible based solely on his recent Playoff appearance against the Steelers after Palmer got hurt.For one, this was the first time he's seen the field during meaningful play in the past 2 years. For two, it was against the Steelers who made P. Manning look mediocre at best in the following game. And with all of that, coupled with him probably taking about 5% of the overall snaps in practices during the past 2 years, he still held his own and played very respectable under the circumstances.You guys= joking.....please tell me that you areagreed. How people quickly forget that just 2 short years ago Kitna was being mentioned as an MVP candidate and there was controversy surrounding the team's decision to name a #1 overall pick who already sat a year as the starter over him going into the following season.

Kitna 06 = Farve 05, minus the arm strength. What good is it having 3 potentially explosive WRs if your QB can't throw the football 15 yards? He is a class act, but you don't want him starting for your team, NFL or FFL -wise.
Kitna is a much better QB than given credit for.

Sure, his numbers were decent, but he couldn't win games for the team. He was surrounded by talent and a top-5 oline. I suppose he could put up numbers in Detroit given the talent at the skill positions, but i don't see them goin to the playoffs or anything with Kitna at helm. Nah...this system is top 10 without the line and Kitna is twice the QB that joey is...leadership goes along way in winning your teams starting QB job. Joey couldn't lead a pack of girlscouts.IF and only ifHe beats out Joey for the starter job ANDKitna = Top 10 fantasy QB if he goes to the Lions.

Please note that all the Cinci homers in this thread think Kitna is a great guy, but not a starting caliber QB.

I can't see Kitna signing in Detroit unless he is promised the starter's job, which won't happen. The best the Lions could promise is an open competition to be the starter. Why should he move to Detroit to end up in the same situation he is in now. He'd be better off staying with te Bengals. If both Detroit and Baltimore offered him a contract, my guess is that he'd choose Baltimore, even if it was for less money. He has a better chance to start in Baltimore.

Why wouldn't Kitna just stay in Cincy where he is appreciated and comfortable? Why leave and go be a back up in a different place with a new system? He isn't a good starter. Sorry.
because this is his last chance to get a payday in the waning years of his career, and possibly start somewhere.

It's only because you're used to Joey Harrington's punk ### that you don't believe Detroit's offense is close to as good as it really could be.Kitna is much better than people give him credit for. So he layed an egg against a Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Defense after not playing for an entire year (if you discount playing the practice squad scrimmage against the Chiefs).
He did more with less in Cincinnati, and it was no fluke that he suddenly put up great numbers with a decent supporting cast.
Watch what happens when David Carr gets Reggie Bush, a Left Tackle in the 2nd round, and a No.2 receiver to go with Dom Davis and Andre Johnson. He'll suddenly throw 25TDs and look like the #1 draft pick he was.
You can call me crazy now, but pull this up after Kitna spends a season in Detroit, and I'll be the one

(I like Kitna...get that outta the way)I don't think Detroit's offense is close to being as good as it could be because Martz hasn't gone completely nuts yet and flipped on them. It's almost sad that he has to go from some awesome route runners in St. Louis to the lackadaisical trio in Detroit. And his O's have so much timing in them which requires discipline and trust in both the QB and the WR in getting there or putting it there and.....I can't see how Martz doesn't flip on these guys, maybe even walk out of practice one afternoon all angry.I would expect their O to be far better the second half of the year than the first, regardless who the QB is.
