Short of Josh and Johnny being blood brothers and going to a locked down, hard nosed, long-term rehab center together, nothing good can come from the two spending time together. Manziel is just plain toxic right now, and no one wants to be affiliated or attached to toxic. It's just that simple. Add in Gordon's own issues, and we are looking at toxic squared.
Sadly, what is true, what is chargeable, and what is provable in a court of law still doesn't change the perception of Johnny Football. The truth is almost irrelevant in the eyes of the general public. I'm on board that that's not how it should be, but that's how it is.
As far as having to "do your research" to see how people are doing, that right there speaks to the problem. If people have to SEARCH for how someone is doing, that means the lasting impression is that the player still has issues. The message of changed or rehabilitated or better or more mature and grown up has not come through if people have to search to see that PLAYER X has changed his ways.
As my parents used to say, if you weren't out at all hours at places you shouldn't be, you would not have to prove your innocence. Being in Vegas is not a crime. But being in Vegas with one of the most toxic players in the NFL when you are trying to get reinstated and remake your image makes it a crime in the court of public opinion.
