Josh Gordon - August 1, 2016 (2 Viewers)

Ok, so.... Do you trade your 2/4/5 to move up for Coleman

or hope you hit paydirt on a 4th and 5th round player (keeping in mind u have another 4th and 2 5th rnd picks remaining)?

Honest question.
Think you are skipping that high 2nd round pick.

Three young guys vs, one.  On a team devoid of depth/numbers.    You can fixate on it, but it's not happening.

No Fun League indeed:

Josh Gordon - WR - Browns

An NFL spokesman shed no light Monday when asked when suspended WR Josh Gordon's reinstatement will be addressed.

"There is no requirement that a reinstatement decision be made in 60 days," the spokesman said regarding a general belief Gordon's situation would be addressed within 60 days of his application for reinstatement. "We endeavor to develop the necessary information to make a decision in that time frame, but the actual decisions are made when appropriate." Browns VP of football operations Sashi Brown previously indicated the team is proceeding as if Gordon will not be on the Browns' roster. The team will see it as a "bonus" if Gordon is eligible to play in 2016.

^^^ It's worrying, but to be honest, that's how they SHOULD be proceeding, no?
you sure aren't.

But no, that is not how they should be proceeding if they have info on the situation (which you know they do) and are confident he will be playing.

Or it could mean they are trading him, which would make it very stupid to say that.

trade down w SF.... Still get a QB..... trade up for Coleman.

sexxxxxxxxxxxual healing
Maybe the only correct thing you have said.

Barring another team making a huge jump, we would get one of the QBs at 7.

Well,  minus the trade up for Coleman part.

You don't draft Coleman at all, let alone trade a bunch of picks for him.

RG3 will likely sign in Cleveland. Do you use that first round pick for a quarterback or try to build around RG3? I will hang up and listen Browns fans.

Signing RG3 should not and will not impact what happens with any of our significant draft picks.  Why the #### would it?

Signing RG3 would allow the team to address other areas of need with that early pick. I take it you are not a RG3 believer. Some say RG3 and Hue make a good fit. How surprised would you be if they did not take a QB in the first round?
Not at all.

However, RG3 would have nothing to do with that decision.

I prefer to hear your evidence as to how you have as much information as the Brown's franchise.  That would be a fun read.

What will it take for Gordon owners to finally say, enough is enough, I'm done?
Kinda bad timing to take this stance, since he's been on good behaviour for a year and likely to be back in the NFL soon. I can understand thinking this way a year ago. But he's trending up at the moment.

I am only invested in Gordon in one league, cant imagine dealing with this in multiple ones? Luckily I have Bryant in none and that will remain....

Hmnnn.  ESPN Browns beat writer Patrick McManamon on a podcast from yesterday says that he senses that team has 'definitely cooled' on Josh Gordon from the time of the Combine to now.

Go to the 5:00-minute mark of the pod for this quick exchange.

http://espn.go.com/espnradio/play?id=15042836&s=espn

Q:  Pat do you have any insight into the Josh Gordon will turn out to be and when the Browns find something out?

Pat Mac:   When?  Indefinite.  The 60-day thing passed and the NFL said it was a guideline.  They will do it in their timeline.

I sense a  definite COOLING between the Browns and Gordon.

Sashi Brown was pretty optimistic about him at the Combine but yesterday, he did not have the same kind of optimism.  I don't know if it was that they know something about reinstatement or if they just decided that, ya know, move on.  Their line is, they want to sit down and talk to him but I sense a definite COOLING between the two parties.

Q:  Really?

Pat Mac:  Yeah.

I think the NFL is just waiting for some big news story that paints them in a good light (or at least a powerful light such as winning the deflategate trial) to release the Gordon news of him being reinstated.  They probably don't want it to be the biggest headline for weeks during the offseason, even if it screws over the Browns' offseason program.

Is it really surprising that the Browns are cooling on him after reports of him attending a UFC event with Manziel?

Manziel just forced them to be done with him through his actions, and his substance abuse.  Gordon has been in and out of trouble for years now in regards to substance abuse, and a lot of it had been framed to be partially attributable to the company he kept.

Whether Gordon has been clean for a year or not, hanging out with Johnny Manziel is just another poor decision in a long list of poor decisions by Gordon.  I get that they became friends as teammates, I also would agree that teams can't tell you who your friends are.  However, when you are in Gordon's position, and trying to convince everyone that you've changed, and deserve another chance... hanging out with the poster child for out of control football players is a really poor decision.

I know the moment that report came out, I cooled a bit on my prospects of having Gordon as a keeper in my primary league.  Not surprised it has had the same effect on the people who would actually pay his salary.

There is zero logic to that, which makes me think you might be right.

This is what I think too. He's a pot addict/alcoholic who decided to hang out with Johnny Manziel while he's still awaiting his reinstatement into the league. It doesn't mean he was snorting coke off a hooker's behind with Manziel, but it does mean that he's still not very intelligent and obviously doesn't understand why he's not in the league. Sometimes, people are just numbskulls. And while it made the league bulk, it seems to have made the Browns realize what they're dealing with too.

Detroit is in need of a wide receiver. Especially since Titus Young is no longer there.

I don't think he has much trade value.

Browns are better off keeping him for two years, and signing him long term if he has truly turned it around.

He'll get an update, or he'll give an update?  Isn't he the one making the call?
To give an update, he has to get a lot of input:

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000625769/article/josh-gordon-applies-for-reinstatement-to-nfl

Set forth below are the procedures to be used when an application is received by the Commissioner.

1. Within 45 days of receipt of the application, the Player will be interviewed by the Medical Director and the Medical Advisor, after which a recommendation will be made to the Commissioner with regard to the Player's request for reinstatement.

2. The Player will execute appropriate medical release forms that will enable the Commissioner's staff and NFLPA Executive Director's staff to review the Player's substance abuse history, including but not limited to attendance at counseling sessions (individual, group and family); attendance at 12-step and other self-help group meetings; periodic progress reports; and all diagnostic findings and treatment recommendations.

3. The Player will submit to urine testing by an NFL representative at a frequency determined by the Medical Advisor.

4. The Player will agree in a meeting with the Commissioner or his representative(s) to comply with the conditions imposed by the Commissioner for his reinstatement to the status of an active Player.

5. All individuals involved in the process will take steps to enable the Commissioner to render a decision within 60 days of the receipt of the application.

Appreciate the info Hank, but frankly I don't believe it has much use.  Goodell will do whatever he wants and on his own timeline.  He doesn't care about process and clearly isn't motivated to change his methodology by a constant string of losses in court.

Until we see any evidence to the contrary players, coaches, and teams will continue to be suspended for widespread practices, lose draft picks due to other common team activities and/or scientific principles, and players are, well, they're just at the complete mercy of Kim Jong Goodell.

Hopefully Gordon has followed the steps provided, shows contrition whether he believes it or not, and kisses Goodell's ### as soon as possible.

It has use in explaining why nothing has happened.  There is no accountability by the NFL in the policy.  They can do whatever they want because the policy puts no requirements on them.

God please don't start doing this.  I'm on your side with the Gordon situation, but if you start doing this I'll change sides man, I'll change sides.
It;s not like I haven't said all offseason that the Browns would trade him.. Looking more and more like that'll be the case

Idiotic... but the case
