1983 Fleer
1989 Upper Deck

790 bucks for both, probably got taken to the cleaners but don't care.,,total impulse buy.

Should I open now, wait for the right life moment, or forever keep them in the box....still deciding.

How do you impulse now and not open now lol

they would be worth more unopened like that. I don't know the going price for baseball cards but 790 does seem like alot

I have a box of unopened Fleer cards from 1981. Had them since I was a kid. As a matter of fact I have all of my cards from back then. Some complete sets including some Topps complete sets from the mid to late 80s. I'm not sure what else I have but I remember being big into Rose, Yaz, and Carew cards. I'm also pretty sure I have a Rickey Henderson rookie card and a Fernando Valenzuela rookie. Not sure what else. Now I have the urge to dig them out and go through them.

Well. 1983 Fleer got the Gwynn, Sandberg, and Boggs rookie cards for the big hits. That upper deck low series is the one though. Griffey and Sheff rookies. For that price id assume it's the higher numbers.

The smart people leave the boxes untouched on ice. I'm not smart. I open and enjoy the moment. What a great experience as a kid opening a box of cards. Life was great at that moment. Ha ha

I don't understand why the 89 upper deck makes that a steal. One box of wax may have what, one Griffey in there?

The problem is those Upper Deck boxes are easily to fleece with sequencing as the boxes were never sealed. Unless I'm buying from a fresh case, I'm skeptical.

Don't open it TU. If you're lucky enough to get a Griffey, chances are it'll only be a PSA 7-8. Centering is always an issue (hologram on back has to be perfectly centered as well).

This is common with packs/boxes - open until the best card Is found, then refill the box with packs from another box and sell as new.

Went to the Rays’ game on Sunday. Fred McGriff Rays’ Hall of Fame induction. Pretty nice ceremony.

They gave away Fred McGriff bobble heads to anyone coming in. Fairly well made actually. We got two for my kids. Wife and I passed. Who wants to carry that around for 3 hours?

We go inside and stop at a high top, grab a beer, and start to open them so the kids can check them out. My son is thrilled. Some nerd chimes in with, “you’re going to let them open those?! They’ll lose all their value!” Yeah, doofus. You think I’m going to make my kid cry so I can try to sell this for $10 on eBay? Get a life.

Anyway. Open the damn boxes.

IIRC with UD and Fleer you can open the top packs and figure out what is underneath which makes these boxes even more suspect.

89 UD boxes, we didnt buy back then because of this. I forget the conditions for top, but it was 8th pack of top right stack or 4th pack bottom left. Farmed a bunch of boxes that way
